Fly US Helicopter between EWR and Manhattan for $45 one-way
Quote:
For a limited time, Continental is offering a $45 one-way fare for US Helicopter service between New York/Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Manhattan. The discounted fare is available to economy-class customers traveling on select fares to or from Newark Liberty.
Continental currently offers complimentary US Helicopter service between Newark Liberty and Manhattan to customers traveling on first class and full fare economy tickets.
US Helicopter provides an eight-minute flight from Newark to the Midtown Manhattan (TSS) or the Wall Street (JRB) heliport. To make your travel even easier, you can check in for your Continental flight and check your bag through to your final destination at the heliport. TSA security screening is conducted from the heliports and no further screening is required in Newark, allowing easy connectivity to all Continental flights. You'll also earn 500 OnePass miles on US Helicopter codeshare flights when connecting to or from a Continental flight.
US Helicopter flights operate hourly, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:50 p.m. Flights connect to and from gate C-71 at Newark. To reserve flights, contact Continental Reservations or book your flights online now.
Promotion valid for tickets purchased on US Helicopter codeshare flights booked in H class and when connecting to or from a Continental flight at Newark Liberty International Airport. Complimentary service applies to international and domestic flights booked in C, R, A or Y classes.

Matches a similar deal that DL & UH are running from JFK. From JFK it was designed to match the flat-rate taxi fare. Fortunately it looks like CO/EWR will get a discount on the taxi fare.
The kicker is the C/A/R/Y fares for the flights. I don't book too many of those.

Those fares are just for the complimentary service. It sounds like any CO fare can be used to get the $45/one-way fare on USH. Unfortunately, everything I'm seeing right now is booking into Y on the USH segment and not H as indicated above.
EDIT: I was wrong. It says "The discounted fare is available to economy-class customers traveling on select fares to or from Newark Liberty" but does not specify what select fares qualify...
I think my dh qualifies for the complimentary helicopter ride for his trip next week. Too bad we live in NJ and he has no reason to go into NYC, and he doesn't really like riding in helicopters. I wish I could go on it instead.

It is H fares only for the $45 deal. Details are in the same line at the bottom that I copied the CARY out of.

The Delta deal is for their Y/B/M fares, which are the same as CO's Y/H more or less. It is a nifty deal, but not of folks are going to get to take advantage of it.

That seems a little misleading. I read it as the USH segment had to book into H. In many cases, the fare class of the USH segment does not match the fare class of the CO segments.
Oh well, guess this deal won't do much good for me as I don't fly on H fares very often.
Interesting offer! We're booked in R between EWR and PHX next week - might need to dig out the change terms & conditions.... Only thing holding me back is the baggage limitation by USH (1 bag at 50lb and no more than 62", plus a carry on (smaller than normal) - we're on hols from the UK, so may be carrying a bit more than that.

When did this start?!? May have to take advantage, though the USH schedule is rarely helpful.

UH doesn't sell an H fare on their code, only Y variants. So I think the idea is an H fare on the CO flight allows the $45 UH segment.
I don't do it at all any more, but back when I occasionally had to buy last minute business tix in H class I absolutely would've added on the helo segment for $45.
I tried booking this on a H ticket through to Europe I need to take next week and it did not give me the 45 USD fare (was about 106 USD extra for appending each helicopter leg).

I think it is a typo. I think it should read that Full Fare BusniessFirst travelers can receive complimentary USH Service.

Its really a joy to leave NYC at rush hour on a helicopter instead of guessing how long it will take to make through a tunnel. Same for a morning commute back into the city. This is worth trying for all who can take advantage of it. Less than a car service too.
Done Full refund on our original booking, and rebooked to include the chopper transfer at no extra cost (actually, a £2.20 reduction thanks to the exchange rate ).
Complimentary service applies to international and domestic flights booked in C, R, A or Y classes.
Wait a second! I can get free USH transfers on domestic A/Y fares?? Is that part of the new offer or has that always been true? I should be using this every week if that's the case!
The $ 45 deal sounds tempting, but my last two experiences with USH were a nightmare (both transfers Manhattan to EWR).
First trip: They cancelled the scheduled flight due to "technical problems" and asked me whether I would be willing to take an earlier flight that would have given me a 4 hr. layover at EWR. They had called me in the morning, about six hours before scheduled departure - plenty of time to fix a chopper problem, IMHO. Also, I checked their reservation system that had my "cancelled" flight still for sale and recognized that I obviously was the one and only guest, so I assume they just cancelled the flight for economical reasons.
Second trip: A huge delay of almost 45 minutes departing the downtown heliport, combined with a special secondary screening. I had called their customer service to confirm schedule earlier that day and they told me no delays were be expected. I reached my CO flight from EWR about 15 seconds (!!!) before they were closing the door. USH also declined to enter my CO One pass number into their system for mileage credit - told me to talk to CO to get credit (not what both companies advertise).
Did not receive any answer to a written complaint to USH so far.
Bottomline: Take a cab or limo to be on the safe side.
