Is it fundamentally dishonest for Continental to blame the delay of you flight from Houston to New York on a thunderstorm over the south pole? Surely mechanical issues are NEVER a problem with planes.

Of course, the same airlines that require YOU to be honest have so manipulated the definition of a "Weather Delay" that they can blame an employee's unexpected bathroom use on the weather.

Finally got the following reply today. I don't know why they bothered:

---------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Continental.

Continental Airlines offers a competitive mix of fares designed to meet
the various needs of our business and leisure customers. These fares
range from deeply discounted fares favored by leisure travelers to
unrestricted fares bearing few, if any, restrictions. Less expensive
fares typically have more restrictions and less flexibility, as are most
of our roundtrip fares. One way fares are generally sold at a higher
fare, since they are normally refundable. Fares are subject to
availability, and lower fares may not be available for every flight. To
secure the best possible fares, please confirm your reservations in
advance and check alternate dates of travel when possible.

Please visit our Web site for more information: http://www.continental.com

We appreciate your business and look forward to welcoming you onboard a
future Continental flight.

It's all about demand. People who want to fly one way really want to fly one way.
