Flat bed seats to HKG?

Got a new and offers email from Continental which at the bottom reads:

Want more space and comfort during your flight? BusinessFirst Flat Bed Seats are now available on flights between London Heathrow and Hong Kong International Airport.

Is there some new flat-bed guarantee to HKG, or is this just strange marketing?

With the conversions in HKG, this should be he last route to be guaranteed flat-bed seats.

I didn't get the email, but they could fly old seat 772s to other Asian destinations (such as NRT) and then take them to HKG for the conversion.

Not really. They need a plane in those other Asian destinations to come back on the return flight.

The newly converted 772s could be used for the return flight.

It doesn't make sense to add extra ferry flights between HKG and other Asian destinations when you can just fly the planes in and out of HKG anyways.

That depends on whether or not they think they can reap more revenue from the HKG flights if they guarantee the flat bed seats. If they believe they can, it's then a question of whether or not the extra revenue exceeds the cost of the extra ferry flights. (If it's close, there's then the question of whether or not they'll build loyalty among the sort of passengers who pay for the expensive tickets.)

Did it give a date when flights to Hong Kong would be guaranteed to have lie flat? Looking at recent flights, some are going out without flat beds.

Any HKG-EWR(CO 777), HKG-ORD(UA 747), HKG-SFO(UA 747) will be lie flat in business.

Or do the SQ non-stop SIN - EWR. It's all flat bed on the entire plane.

All 744s operating a regular scheduled flights have horizontal 180 degree full-flat seats.

Just take note, that only the HKG-EWR nonstop flight works for you, as the SFO and ORD flights will have you connect to a non-flat-configured equipment.
In this case a p.s. flight for the SFO-JFK run might be ok.
