Hi SF1K, yes, United's Elite customers will have the same access to our Elite instant upgrades for Y and B fares. Additionally, Global Services and 1K members will have access to instant upgrades for M fares just like Continental's Platinum Elite members.
Hi CO Insider,
I'm 1K but would like to start building status on CO next year. Will it be possible as a 1K to upgrade an M fare, but credit the flight to CO rather than UA?
In general, will it be possible to use status on UA to get benefits on CO while crediting the flight to CO?
Don't mind them, they are just bitter and, well, UA loyalists.
If you are referring to my post, and apparently myself in general, I am no UA loyalist, nor am I bitter. Indeed, I see some value in this announcement and look forward to trying out CO for the first time in several years. Just not a fan of lopsided arrangements - specifically, the so-called "premium" seating on CO.
1K® members will continue to earn Regional Upgrades
Sometimes no change is good news. After our last announcement, we heard from our 1K members how much they value their Regional Upgrades. To thank them for their ongoing loyalty, we’ve decided to continue issuing Regional Upgrades to 1Ks, even after the Unlimited Domestic Upgrades program launches.

I read your post and I responded to it BECAUSE you seemed DISAPPOINTED that UA GS/1K's DIDN'T have priority over CO Plats on CO METAL. It seems that if you had your druthers as a UA flyer on CO, that UA GS/1K's should have priority over CO Plats on CO Metal.
Like I said in MY POST. Just because you understand the WHY UA GS/1K's were not prioritized over CO Plats on CO Metal doesn't mean that your statement smacked of some arrogance that UA GS/1K's are MORE IMPORTANT that CO's Top Tier on their own planes.
I "understand" your post MORE than you know, if what I concluded is not in the realm of interpretation of your statement, maybe you should re-read your own post or search your own soul.

It is clear that UA has listened to its loyal 1Ks on this one.
CO does not have a monopoly on listening to its elites. (CO does this VERY well )

Well that pretty much seals it for this 1k on UA & Plat on CO, with EUAs being so hard to come by due to M-UP (I dont blame CO $$$ is their game as it should be), and now with the possibility of a 1k being able to EUA on CO ahead of CO Golds.
Its pretty much a no-brainer that I will go after UA 1k rather then CO Plat. I would revisit it if CO ever gets E+. But since its more likely then not that I wont get a EUA on CO due to so many M-UPs being purchased , those CR1s are alot more valuable, especially for Trans-cons on UA or if UA keeps them for the Hawaiian flights

That said, there's a seating advantage for CO Elites flying UA as well, so it sort of balances out.
After spending a weekend learning about UA's F, E+ and E- product, I think that for those of us who can divide 125K flying miles, the best distribution would be 75001 in CO's OP and 50,001 in UA's MP program. This will give the best UG possibilities for both programs.

Had a UA irregular ops yesterday and they accomodated the sluts (me) very well and without any grousing. There were no meltdowns at the airport.

I think this is remarkably fair. UA's E+ is far better than UA's E- and in my opinion better than CO's Y except for in flight amenities such as food, drink and entertainment. However, I can say without a doubt that UA's E- is worse than CO's Y. For whatever reason, the seats feel tighter and more uncomfortable. I am glad that I will not be there any more now that I made 2P. I did not include the special seats (exit row and bulk head) on CO since I do not think that is the generality but rather the exception in coach seating.
All in all, I have been highly impressed with UA for the most part with some glaring exceptions which I will post later (maybe on UA's board).

Woo hoo!!. Now I can change my signature! This is great, the best of both worlds! M fare upgrades on CO and CR1's on UA! Now I am going to go burn my CR1's I was saving because I assumed that they were going to be gone. Funny I had to read this on CO's board. I don't know how big of an airline NW was, but I think that UA is slightly bigger than NW was right? So just statistically I think there will be more UA elites using CO's benefits.

Is this also true in reverse? Will CO Plat Elites get instant upgrades on YMB fares on UA?

This new plan is a positive for CO Plat, UA 1K, 1P. The biggest loser in this new plan is CO Gold. In fact, now it makes no sense to be a CO Gold at all. UA 1P > CO Gold in every respect on both airline yet the qualifications are exactly the same. Why would anyone want to be a CO Gold now?
