Colgan pilot training faulted in CO 3407 fatal crash
See cover story in today's Wall Street Journal:
" The Captain of a commuter plane that crashed Feb. 13 near BUF had flunked numerous flight tests during his career and was never adequately taught how to respond to the emergency that led to the airplane's fatal descent..." This is bad news. Turboprops are usually quite safe. I wonder what action CO will take with their Colgan sub-contractor? B7 |

Yes, there was a pilot error, but look for the root cause.

I don't know, saying that the training is the root cause may be a little extreme. The pilot could have just been a poor student. I think we're speculating a little too much without actually having the NTSB look at the training.
The better question would be, why would a pilot be allowed to fail so many tests and continue to fly? |

I think they should jettison Colgan... Right away.

And get this...on my flight Friday the brand new FA (he was reading from the cheat sheets while making announcements) wouldn't even let me hold my Bose headphones during takeoff or landing! I had to put them in the overhead. |

And CommutAir...I'm getting really tired of flying those Q200s to Syracuse.

I was on a Ryan Air flight and was required to place my coat in the overhead. I'm not sure if your FA was brand new but those announcements must be read as written so it isn't unusual to see FAs read from a script until they learn the lines.

Do you really think they are going to pull a Q200 and put a 737 on the route?
