+1 on the Shuttle. That's a long train ride.

I know, although, I'm not at all opposed to that.

I'll probably end up flying just for the miles.

It's pretty much like any other US flight on a 319.

And potentially triple the time it takes to get there.

Acela to BOS is a long train ride. But they have WiFi and it's reasonably comfortable. I've done it and wouldn't be in a hurry to do it again.

DCA-EWR-BOS is an easy way to notch some EQMs and is still much faster than the train. So I'd do that.

The shuttle is a nice product, but it's not so fantastic that I would forgo miles for it if I had time to spend on the connection.

ETA: Acela first is a different story from Acela business. The meals in first are actually quite good and the service is good. Not a terrible way to spend a day.

Agree. The benefit of the shuttle is frequency, flexibility, and reliability rather than it being some kind of fantastic in-flight experience. One free beer/wine in coach is nice too I suppose.

I've got all day Monday to get there and all day Friday to get home.

That is impressive. The only times I've used the shuttle I've either had a meeting upon landing or been renting a car to go further north, so I've had to keep it under control.

I did once manage to get through four G&Ts on a BWI-MHT flight in the old WN party seats...but that was a special occasion.

If I did Acela, it would be in first.

Is there anything on the US Shuttle in Y that's different from a normal 319 flight, other than a free drink? I've only done it a couple of times on DCA-BOS, in F.

If you have a day to spend and have never done it, I would recommend Acela first. It is a long train ride, but it's a good experience.

I've only ever done the shuttle in Y and it's exactly like an ordinary 319 flight except the service is reliably good and quick and they give you that free drink.
