Which Maple Leaf Lounge should I use in YYZ?

Now that CO is with *A, I am using AC to fly EWR-YYZ, since most CO flights are CO Express with no FC option. AND, more importantly, YYZ sucks in the CO terminal - food is awful, only an AA lounge.

So this Wed is my first chance to sample the Maple Leaf Lounge via my lifetime PC membership, but do I have a choice of lounges when I fly YYZ-EWR? Is one better than the other? Will I be impressed?

For YYZ-EWR, there is only one lounge available, the transborder lounge. The other lounges are in the domestic pier and the international pier, neither of which are accessible to transborder passengers.

There's a decent self-serve food offering (for North America standards). Self service alcohol, showers, computers with internet access - better than a Presidents Club, but not as good as the lounges of some overseas airlines.

As mentioned, you will using the trans-border lounge.

You go through security, then down the escalator and then pay attention that you don't miss the lounge sign. You have to take a sharp right, almost a U-turn and then up in the lift (elevator) one floor to the AC lounge.

It generally has something like hot soup, and a little cold food (maybe rolls or vegetable sticks). Free drinks, including free alcohol. TV room for kids, good natural light with a reasonable view of the apron.

It should be a max 5 min walk from lounge to gate when you're done (unless you pause at Mr Horton's place...)

Only one in the transborder area, but it is quite large.

Once you go past security screening, there is an elevator to your right that takes you up to the MLL. The elevator opens directly into the MLL and the agents are to your left.

A good assortment of food/reading material/entertainment -stocked beverage fridge, continental breakfast, soup during meal hours, chips, fruit, bread, veggies at all times.

The wireless is free, but you have to sign up to Datavalet to access it.

Hopefully CO moves to Terminal 1 soon.

The transborder MLL is indeed quite nice

If you are frequently flying EWR to Toronto, nothing beats Porter's service to the downtown airport.

I am still on the fence with Porter - great staff, free drinks, nice lounge for all.

While the Island airport is convenient, for now, there is no US preclearance or Nexus. Hopefully once Porter gets its new terminal, that will change.

Also, on Porter, both my flights were 1hr+ late (non-weather or ATC related). and of course you land in EWR.

once the new terminal is done, porter will be awesome, there will be nexus there. As it was the wait wasn't bad on my last EWR-YTZ

The transborder MLL is fine, but be careful with the salad bar, I got food poisoning from there once, it was NOT a fun YYZ-SFO.

Is it confirmed that Porter is paying USCIS to place pre-clearance staff at the new terminal? That's a very expensive proposition for just a handful of transborder flights.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Sounds better than the PC - looking forward to upgrading from the crappy CO terminal at YYZ.
