If there is an AFL game, it should again be scheduled as an OzFest event. I missed the game in Brisbane a few years ago and have been chomping at the bit to see one of those games in the flesh.
I am off to make a flex res at the Hilton even tho there is no certainty that we can make it.

Having mused over the Cairns Do this year, but failing to convince Mrs TK that such a trip would be good for us, this Do is tempting. Better, there is a tiny chance I could be in Australia in 2010 as well.
So make TK Gold thanks - If I end up in Oz in 2010, I'll need to check that my commitments actually allow me to attend. But one step at a time I think.....
Of course, bringing 2 mini's will slow me down a little on the social aspects like Cairns...but I know there are enough willing FT'ers to help us look after them. Alternative is to bring a grandparent or two . If I didn't bring the mini's, there'd be hell to pay from a number of FT'ers who will expect them to be there (so they can get their fix).
I know someone who might help with the babysitting . Mini DG isnt so mini these days and she loves babies and toddlers, so your sitter issues may be solved. Im pretty good with babies too .
Adelaide general tourist information in post xx,
________________________ Name Tags,
Once again falconea (Audrey) has come to the party and is organising name tags for all Oz Fest attendees.
Could everyone please have a look at her post 14 make contact if necessary to ensure that you end up with the correct name details on your tag. If your details were correct last year then no need to worry

Also, schedule permitting, I might be tempted to fly SYD-MEL, drive to ADL along the Great Ocean Road and fly ADL-SYD. If this idea grabs anyone, I'm all up for it.

SQ421,
Good to have you on board.
This link may prove helpful for anyone planning to drive between major centres.
(I used to do the GOR on a Motorbike 25 years ago - great fun!)
As for Melbourne to Adelaide it can be a leisurely 5 day trip.
However, for 2 two night trip I suggest:
Day 1: Melbourne to Lorne/Warrnambool
Day 2: Lorne/Warrnambool to Mount Gamber
Day 3: Continue to Adelaide
Lorne is easier for a first day but it does make the second day longer. If you decide to overnight at Warrnambool, leave Melbourne early, otherwise depart Lorne early the next day to complet your GOR sight seeing.
Drive the Great Ocean Road, take your time, start early check out all the stops etc. and arrive at your first overnight around 4pm.
Have a look at Portland, and if you have time check out Cape Bridgewater ("... rugged windswept cliff-tops, lakes, a sculptured coastline, limestone formations, caves, blowholes and mountainous sand dunes ...")
Continue to Mount Gambier: Have a look at the Blue Lake.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds terrific. That would be great to do by one-way camper van. All I need is a driver. Minor detail. If JerseyVics is still Down Under in 10 months, maybe I can talk him into it.
I hope I can find this page when April rolls around.
