I would not be one to miss the SIN-DO, so
count me in as a definite.

Will work out the flights and hotel later.

Cheers,

I'm holding an award ticket from HNL for this DO. I'm planning on HNL-NRT-BKK-DPS, and return DPS-SIN(stopover)-NRT-HNL and back via a purchased ticket. It's really hard to pass up 65k for the award from HNL when I would pay 30k miles for a DPS ticket as is.

Also, what is the agenda with mini-bar parties this year?

Count me as a possible/interested.

(and also in any pre and post 'tours' that might be on. I've only ever done a transit through Kuching aiprort before)

Make me a maybe. Thread is bookmarked and the ANA tool is fired up - if I find something nice I'll book it.

Mark me as probable - had a great time this year. I'm also up for another opushomes expedited adventure and quite possible the Kuching trip.

My calendar is operating on about a rolling two-three week window lately so I haven't a clue what I'll be doing 8 months from now. Should know around November perhaps for sure.

I would be interested in a Kuching excursion as outlined. I was planning
to go straight to B.S.B. in Brunei, but might reconsider, and add KCH as
a stop.

Unfortunately, there seems to be no easy way to get from KCH to BWN without backtracking, from what I can tell.

Air to Bandar Seri Bagawan

Alternatives:

1. Royal Air Brunei presently has twice a week service from Kuching to BWN Tuesday and Saturday. Shows still available in January.

2. Fly KCH-BKI (Kota Kinabalu) on Air Asia or MH and fly to BWN on Royal Air Brunei. It is about a fifteen minute flight on Royal Air Brunei.

3. Or from BKI take a taxi to the ferry to Brunei. The problem with this is that it is the expensive taxi ride from the pier in Brunei to the central part of the city, for example, the Sheraton. Four years ago it was in excess of $S50. Note: Brunei dollar is on a par with Sing dollar and both are interchangable.

4. Fly Air Asia to Labuan and take the ferry as above. When I did it I routed via Miri to Labuan.

5. Fly to Miri and catch the bus to Brunei. Downside is that it takes considerable time on the bus. One can also hire a taxi in Miri to the border and attempt to connect to a bus in Brunei.

Hopefully these alternatives are helpful. I have actually flown the BWN-BKI route. Royal Air Brunei is expensive.

BI operates as a Malaysia Air codeshare KUL-BWN on Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri, Sun in January which would be a back-track. It leaves at 2230.
