Ann Arbor Art Fair DO 5 (DTW)- July 18-19, 2009

It's official.

The cap has been lifted and a venue fitting all people will be announced in late May.

And I posted this a full month earlier than last year, hopefully allowing some attendees to find even cheaper fares.

The format will be similar to past years. There will be two meetings, one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday afternoon.

There will be a dinner Saturday night, possibly at Palm Palace, which was LaShish.

Brunch will be at Webers on Sunday.

I'm excited to announce that this years Saturday speaker is lucky9876coins. He writes the blog One Mile at a Time. I enjoy Ben's insight's into traveling and his ability to "maximize" his travel experience. I actually remember some of his first posts to FT, when he was working on understanding the NW $500 fare to SIN about 4 years ago.

And Sunday's speaker will be Ingy, writer of the FrugalTravelGuy blog, who will give a presentation entitled "Around the World on Miles and Points".

The presentation will concentrate more on planning and cost breakdown than the actual sights.

Ingy has a great blog and comes up with twists I never contemplated.

I believe the DO will retain its reputation of being the Points and Miles Maximization DO again this year.

Also, I'm requesting no media and no recording of the talks.

Prizes: There will be prizes. One or two for best speakers, one for most miles flown to DO solely to attend DO, one for least CPEQM for flight to DO, and one for best tip. The same person can't win more than once.

IMHO, best hotel deal is SPG points for 4 Points near Briarwood mall in Ann Arbor. Sold out early last year. 3000 points a night. Was just available.

In the past, people were able to BRG a room also. May this option RIP, now that it is after April 1. This option won best tip at either the first or second DO. It was nice to have attendees get several years of use out of it.

Hi Bikeguy,

Count me in - I think the library is good for anyone who also wants to spend some time at the Art Fair before we meet but I also thought last year worked well for parking and a larger group - I guess it depends on how many people there will be.

Thanks for organizing this again!

I would be interested in attending as well. I am from Ann Arbor, but will be in a transition from school to work, so wont know if I can attend for sure until closer to the time.

99% sure I will be in attendance. As always, this is a great event in a great city. I hope to come a day early this year in order to enjoy the unique culture, people, food, and art that will be present. I am especially looking forward to meeting lucky and learning some of his magic.
