There will be a DO, and a location with a roof, that will hold how many ever people come.
Make your travel plans.
If you need to know the precise location before you book, then you will need to wait until the end of May.
Great to hear -- thanks for doing so much to accommodate everyone, Bikeguy! (And for answering my question so quickly).
I will go ahead and make my travel plans, and will return to this thread shortly to announce my "confirmed" status.
Warmest regards, jb831.
p.s. I just noticed that you actually answered a question about location in the post right before mine -- please accept my apologies for the redundancy.
Put me down as a probable. I just have to find some decent fares from ABE/PHL, right now not finding any.
I can't pass up the chance to meet so many FTers who have influenced me so greatly over the years. lucky was a great help to me my first year as a 1K and it was from Sweet Willie (iirc) that I learned about YUL bagels at St Viateur.
PHL-DTW-PIT on NW is 70$ all in and DTW-PHL-MCO/FLL/MIA is about 79$. ABE-DTW-YUL used to be my cheap escape a few months ago too.
Are we talking hidden city ticketing? I guess that never occurred to me. Hoping to get something on Star Alliance. I see some very good fares out of ABE and PIT but only thru June. Thinking some good ones will open up in a month or so.
Now I am more determined than ever to attend and learn from the masters!
Yep. Its my last resort especially out of little airports like ABE when NW/US want 5-700$ for a one way I try to book about 7-14 days in advance. if you don't do it frequently and don't use the operating/marketing airlines FFP, you should be fine.

And the DO education begins before the event! I love it.
Gardener, the financial guy in me would also ask you to look at what the cheapest R/T you think you can get on United is. Then, determine whether the extra money justifies the EQMs and bigger seat. This is something everyone values differently, but is something to consider. There is no right or wrong answer.
Perhaps the extra money can buy you a separate R/T ticket to another destination with more EQMs? Perhaps your time is more valuable and money isn't tight, so earning EQMs while in the sky is the most important?
These thoughts will be what happens to you when you spend way too much time thinking about this stuff.
Thanks for all you hard work and effort in making this happen!

If I can't get the free one by then, I'll let you know how much the paid one will cost each person. It should be under $15 a person, but I really think the free one will come through.
I must be going blind . . . I checked the roster and couldn't find my name
Separate but related subject - I am arriving +/- 10:45 AM. Any other attendees arriving about this time who can offer a ride to and from the DO?
Thanks

Willie, I was thinking of doing this DO if my schedule permits. If so,
I'd be eager for a ride from ORD - I don't have distance vision so
can't drive any more but would be willing to pay the gas.

great, I know of at least one other FT'er who is up for carpooling from the Chicago area (I live 3 miles north of ORD so that is not a problem to pick you up), so if you do decide to go, please let me know, you are more than welcome to get a ride OW or RT.
FWIW I read a blurb that the Feds feel that gas will only be in the ~$2.50 range this summer.
