Since you asked...

Barney
Big Bird
Charlie Brown
Chicken Little
Clifford
Garfield
Jeeves
Kermit
Little Bill
Mr. Monopoly
Pikachu
Ronald McDonald
SpongeBob
Super Grover ^
M&M

This is a list of the 'featured' balloons that will appear this year.

Entrance to the balloon blow-up is 77th Street and Columbus Ave.
We will meet up at:

West 81 Street and Columbus Ave.
Across the street (west side of street and northern corner.)

Since I happen to know the attendees, we won't have any problems.
Please PM me for my cell phone number. Magic111 is excluded from this.

Time: 8:00pm

For those driving in, goodluck finding a spot. I've been know to walk 20 blocks in past years. And no, I'm not kidding.

We'll walk to the entrance; and then walk around this 1 very long block looking at the balloons. At this time, many of the balloons are blown up; while some are still in the process of same.

77 street and 81 street are the 2 streets where all the action is. You may want to bring a camera.

When I took my daugher and her friend, the culmination of the evenings festivities was a stop at Starbucks for hot chocolate. Past years have been anywhere from a low of 35, to a high of 75! That year we all wore shorts. This year the weatherman is talking low 50'sF for Wednesday.

Looking forward to seeing you all again, including ljp

I'd love to come, especially since I'll be spending Thanksgiving in New Jersey, but I will still be on my way back from Venice Wednesday night.

Jerrie arrives from Venice Tuesday night @sfo. We drive to Petaluma she unpacks and repacks get a little sleep and we leave for the airport before 4am to catch our flight back east. Not sure how she will be hanging in there Wednesday night - but we shall see.

Magic,

Maybe a dose of FSF. For those of you that don't know, the long and the short of this is good old fashion New York bakery goods.

From www.wunderground.com
Code:
Wednesday Night
Rain...and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight.
Rain may be heavy at times. Lows in the mid 50s.
South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Thanksgiving Day
Rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm in the
morning...then partly cloudy with a chance of
sprinkles in the afternoon. Rain may be heavy at times
in the morning. Breezy. Morning highs around 60...then
temperatures falling though to 50s in the afternoon.
Southwest winds to 15 mph with gusts up to
25 mph...becoming northwest 20 to 25 mph with gusts
up to 35 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent.
So with these winds is there any chance that maybe big bird or chicken little will go into free flight.

planning for 2005 (yes, I do plan far ahead)

On Christmas Day I committed to one of the nephews (14 now) that we're coming back in 2005 to see the balloons blown up and the parade. I have the vacation time already blocked for next year, and AA has award availability right now. Anyone think it's likely they'll be some type of FT gathering again?

Might I also ask about restaurants or delis for dinner? How hard was it to find a place to eat on Thanksgiving?

Rather than start a new thread...

The first post on page 1 has been revised.

Anyone else interested?

Probably the best deal (show) NYC has going, the blowing up of the Balloons. Its a Block(s) Party.

missed it last year was doing a MR, this year will be in Costa Rica and canopy touring (zip-lines), had to burn those Latin Pass miles.

Tom...

If you were thinking Thanksgiving dinner I would book something NOW. The restaurants fill up and they DO NOT take walk ins. If you need any suggestions on restaurants PM me.

I don't know if I can make this thing... it's going to be a last minute availability depending on my client load for my business. If you are around another night maybe we could do dinner in Jersey City.

Welcome back to NYC!

Actually, we've been invited to dinner at my cousins out in Garden City, so we'll be trekking out there on the LIRR after the parade.

When I was there 3 years ago, I had a very nice dinner at the Castle Pub on 57th (I think). It's right across the street from the Rhiga. It's a little Irish restaurant/ pub but the dinner was very good and not too expensive.

Thanks for the suggestion, but with dinner out on Long Island we're taken care of for Thanksgiving.

Just watched the WNBC news and see a high of 39 and snow for Thursday. Hope that snow storm can wait until the weekend to come in. I can't ever recall watching the parade from home and seeing snow come down during it.
