That's pretty weird - the link I pasted is fine, but Gov't does not allow FT to shorten it! It still ended up in City Rail web site, but not the right section.
For anyone needing to take trains over the weekend to or from airport. Buses are there instead, and sounds like they are free. Maybe we should just take cabs from Four Points to Central Station.

Count me as one of the Friday am UA arrivals - we all made it in safe and sound. The Four Points allowed some (but not all) of us to check into rooms early and I was pleased with the large corner harbour view room they gave me.
We spent yesterday wandering about a bit and did a lunch harbour cruise and then a city bus tour to get bearings. Skipped dinner last night so I could reset my body clock and can now say after 12 hours of sleep that I'm in tip-top shape for the week.
Will see everyone for lunch today!

See you at the QP. I am driving, so able to offer some seats for the return journey to the hotel (4 spaces), and maybe a quick city tour if you think you'll remember it in the morning and not "hurl" in my car!!!

1002 checking in.
My, that Qantas Club champagne tasted nice.
Geat seeing a 100% attendence today, and reminder that the Blue Mountains bus leaves at 8.30am for those booked on it - anyone else cab join us if they care to. With this weather will be a /superb day up there,
Well time for another bubbly before supper ... anyone joining us?
The Tarmac Tour was great, even if I couldn't bring my camera. The closest I've been to a 747 taking off (actually the flight I'll be taking Monday UA SYD-SFO). Then I was able to (briefly) enter the Qantas Club - the sanctum sanctorum. After today's little drama, I will limit myself to thanking those involved.

My sincere thanks to Glen (and Lynn - for putting up with him ) for the wonderful events at SYD airport today. What a wonderful tour!!! Our guide was fantastic and you could tell that his heart and soul were really into it. It was great being on the ground so close to all those planes, and getting to see one of the UA 747's take off was an extra bonus.
Thanks again, Glen, for hosting a FAB event. It was really appreciated!!!
Thus far, our first trip to SYD has been amazing. Absolutely perfect weather. We thought it would be colder, but it has been just exactly right--slightly cool in the evening, but with glorious sunshine during the day.
We spent our first night at the Shearton on the Park, where we received an upgrade to a lovely suite, and enjoyed excellent service and an exceptionally good breakfast in the club. We had a great time walking down to Darling Harbor for lunch, around town in the afternoon, and then around St. Marys and through the parks later in the evening.
Yesterday, after our work out, we checked out and walked down to the Four Points, where we checked in early and received another lovely suite upgrade. Sweet. We spent the day exploring even more of Sydney, via monorail, ferry and foot. Perfect. We hooked up with the FlyerTalk gang in the late afternoon after we returned from our adventures. We all walked over the bridge to dinner at the Blue Fish. Since we were still adjusting to the time change, we went home early and had a long, catch-up sleep.
Today has been, busy, busy, busy. It started with an invigorating workout while enjoying a dazzling view of Cockle Bay and Darling Harbor. Thereafter we had a bite of breakfast and then met up with the gang, and headed out to the airport for lunch, a really fascinating tarmac tour and drinks and snacks at the Qantas Club. The trains to and from the airport were not running today so a group of us took the free bus back to Central Station and then meandered through the weekend entertainment that lines the waterfront on the way back to our hotel. Some folks are going to an early supper, but we have eaten all day long and are just going to kick back and rest a bit before the dinner cruise.
Kudos to Ozstamps and everybody else who had a hand in planning this wonderful event.
Time to go get dressed for dinner and dancing.

I too would like to add my thanks to Ozstamps for the huge organisational effort (and enduring the clear headaches involved with mostly good humour - most likely better than I would have )... It's one thing to write about it here before the event and quite a number to turn the corner at the Esky Bar and see boatloads (or should that be planeloads, at least a DH8 full!) of folks all for the one event. The fact that Glen again organised the deal for lunch up on the observation deck (remember, that's not normally where they serve food!) AGAIN and to have it all sorted for our pretty tight schedule was fantastic. Well done.
I also think this afternoons events in the QP will go down as one of the most memorable in FT history that's for sure!!
It was great to catch up with the small number of people I did get to!
