I just realised this week that there is an industry conference I hope to go to from the 21-23 of May. Thankfully relatively local and here in Texas (Dallas area ), but I guess I'll have to add my Aussie vaca time to the back end of Oz Fest as opposed to the front end.

Tentatively booked at Sofitel, as booking engine for some of the smaller places was a PITA (same booking engine used by several of them, so tough bickies...)

Put me down as silver for the time being. I probably won't know for a few months whether it'll be doable or not next year. But, I'd love to attend another OzFest after having an amazing experience at OzFest 11. I've really missed being there the past few years!

So since work will probably require me to stay stateside May 21-23, while I had hoped to be Aussie bound on the 18th/19th, I had to abandon my original plan, and after some time prodding away at BA's utterly crappy website, think I have a workable itinerary to arrive in between Friday dinner and Saturday AM. ^ Probably renting a car as it's only moderately more expensive than the stupid shared van. For some unknown reason, Avis wants me to rent a Mercedes for less than a compact car
Since I'll be staying down under for the full week after Oz fest, any rec's for how many days I should to devote to Brisbane, stuff to do, and then where else to go? I think I need to get to SYD for my TBD flight home...

LAX-BNE non-stop award availability will be limited to QF(AA AS partner) and VA (DL partner). Very hard if wanting business class.
Worth considering LAX/SFO - BNE/SYD/MEL one way and BNE/SYD/MEL - LAX/SFO one way with domestic flights as needed
329 days to Oz Fest 15,so start looking for award flights

This early announcement has been very helpful to us in snagging award seats. ^
A couple of days ago we booked *A outbound business award seats to BNE.
AC seems to be offering two Business Class and two Coach award seats daily on its BNE-YVR nonstop. We just picked up two for Tuesday, May 29. There are two seats available Monday, May 28, as I write this.
