Some input and guidance from people who have stayed in Noosa before would be of assistance
Post 4 (Hotels) as of now
Hotels
There are many hotels to suit all budgets.
There are no IHG, Hilton, SPG Starwood or Marriott chain properties in Noosa
Accor has the most branded chain accommodation Noosa
The previous Sheraton Noosa (Pink Palace) was re-branded to Sofitel (Accor) in June 2016. Sheraton Noosa as it rebrands to Sofitel
There are apartment brands (Mantra, etc) spread around. The RACV Resort is also nearby, so beneficial pricing for the Victorian automobile club members (RACV) and possibly the other Aust state automobile clubs (RAC, NRMA etc) and USA AAA?

I'd probably stay around Hastings Street and the main Noosa beach. Nearby is the bus stop at Noosa Parade/Noosa Drive if you're coming up from Brisbane, so you won't have to haul luggage too far if you're staying around Hastings Street.
There's also a trail from the beach over to the national park. I had my first koala sighting here about 20 years back. One property I've been looking at is the Mantra French Resort which has 2BR apartments for around $US200 a night. Mantra tends to run sales every few months but think we're too far out for May right now.
The upper part of town, which is a 20 min uphill walk from Hastings Street, has a supermarket, cinema, and shops. You'll pass through this on Sunshine Beach Road as you're coming into town.
There's also hotels and restaurants further out on Gympie Terrace, but unless you have a car probably not a good idea to stay out in that direction.
I've been here at least three times before with backpacker accommodations, so really can't say too much about hotels.
If you have a vehicle, you can go further out to Gympie Terrace, which has restaurants and resorts, but that's just too far out to walk to from the Hastings Street.

My lucky day. Just scored a Qantas F award ticket SYD-LAX on the A380 for the trip home for 70,000 Alaska miles (AA wanted 110,000 for the same seats). These Alaska miles are turning out to be the most valuable airline currency I have this year.

Anchor Motel, Noosa has been booked for Friday and Saturday nights with the recent Amex/Agoda cashback promotion. Too good to pass up.
Haven't booked flights yet. BNE-SYD-MCY?

Haha! So you will be back at the QF F lounge in SYD, even though you will no longer be OW rubies with diamonds and emeralds. Most amusing!

As difficult as it is to find Qantas F awards to the west coast (this is the first one I've ever seen around OzFest dates), it might be the last visit. Alaska does have an agreement for access to the business class lounge at SYD for top tier flyers, so more likely to see me there in future years.

For those of us based in Europe, Qatar has launched an aggressive companion business class sale today.
There are some good deals, probably STO-CNS at 815 base per person must be the best. Routeing via SYD/MEL/ADL is permitted.
STO-MCY is 1184 + taxes and fees per person. All in I can price an open jaw of OSL-QR-DOH-QR-SYD-QF-MCY-QF-SYD-QR-DOH-QR-ARN for 1624 per person. QR books into R and QF books into I.
These fares require at least two people per ticket (and at most eight people).
Tickets must be issued on/before 10 November. 1 free stopover permitted and four paid stopovers at USD 200 permitted on the pricing unit.
Many other points between Scandinavia and Australia/NZ are included.
