CHICAGO (western burb of Darien)- Flyertalk Lithuanian Dinner Do - Tues June 13
Hey all, we've had Lithuanian dinners before, the last being at Grand Duke's in Summit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/commu...gust-17-a.html
Grand Duke's has opened a sister restaurant called Old Vilnius in Daren. the_happiness_store has been jonsen to go and so have I. Come join us for dinner!
What is Lithuanian Cuisine? Lithuanian cuisine features the products suited to the cool and moist northern climate of Lithuania: barley, potatoes, rye, beets, greens, berries, and mushrooms are locally grown, and dairy products are one of its specialities. Since it shares its climate and agricultural practices with Eastern Europe, Lithuanian cuisine has much in common with Eastern European (Polish, Ukrainian), and shares some similarities to Scandinavian cuisine also, Hungarian, Romanian, and Georgian cuisines as well as Ashkenazi Cuisine.
All are welcome, c'mon out for dinner.
Time: 6:30pm
Venue:
Old Vilnius Cafe
2601 75th Street

very goodI do see a 7pm start as well, perhaps I was overly optimistic as to a 6:30pm start. I guess if others get there early, they can always indulge in a beer or three.
EDITED TO ADD: start time has been made 6:30pm

I haven't been to Lithuania in a few years, so this seems interesting. And, since I'm flying into ORD the day before, possible.
It looks like the public transport links from the Loop are pretty complicated. (Google Maps says two buses, two hours) Would an "L" to Midway and Uber from there be sensible?
Wait, not I'm confused on dates. June 13th or July 25th?
