I also note that the Hyatt Place Novi is close.

Both are low points (5K) hotels, but would require a rental car.

If any locals could let us know if these are viable options, that would be great.
Google is your friend -- the most recent article I could find on this is about two years old and I haven't seen anything on it since (except in this thread !!!!)

No. discountsae had graciously offered to volunteer for setting up dinner for Saturday night. Here is the plan:

Dinner will be at Asia City Restaurant (Buffet)
2905 Washtenaw Rd, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

Saturday July 22, 2017 following the conclusion of the Ann Arbor DO. I told the restaurant to expect us around 6:15pm, but they are flexible +/- 15 minutes.

Dinner will be $22 for adults and $10 for children ages 2-10. Price includes dinner buffet, soda, tax, and tip. There will also be a cash bar. We will have a semi-private area of the restaurant that can accommodate up to 85 guests. Dan (discountsae) will collect money (cash, paypal, square cash) at the restaurant as people arrive, rather than waiting until the very end of the evening.

I told them we will have between 40-60 people, it might be nice if we can give them a better estimate a week before the DO, but I am not concerned. The budget also includes the dinners of our guest speakers.

Thank you Dan for setting this up! Much appreciated!

I always wanted to eat there as they have a large selection of food choices and ample meeting rooms. This month, our local online newspaper MLive published an article of local restaurant inspection reviews. A link to the review of Asia City Restaurant is below.

FT trivia.

Half of MelEngineersSavings posts since 2012 have been to AAAF DO threads.

I'm interested if there is still room. Thanks

edit: Meeting for Sure, dinner much less likely so don't hold a spot for me if it is filling up and somebody else wants to go
