I use to live in Korea when stationed there with the US Military. A O/W trip to the DMZ area should take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Actual time inside the Panmunjun area will probably be like 1-2 hrs, including the walk into North Korea( in the conference room). North Korean guards will probably be looking in the windows watching you .

Put me as interested for the Tokyo DO. I saw in Korea last Sept, so will probably pass on the post DO.

From what I could make of some of the prices, a companion wasn't always needed....

Messaging me on FB (where we chat daily!) about this might have been easier than leaving a post here, penegal!

Not wanting to feel left out, I just did the 11-16 booking as well

Got a few more nights to sort out in Japan, but that bits sorted!

Questions:

Will there be a wiki for sign up or is the attendee list managed by posting here or via PM?

Is there a preferred hotel for any of the events or is it pick where you like around Shinjuku?

Thanks

Hiya 24left

Generally the Hiltons seem pretty popular with this crowd, but no, there is no "official" hotel for the Japan Do's. We're a pretty self-serving group - go with what suits you and your point scheme best. If it's a big chain odds are someone from this group will be there. But then there are also those who will stay at hostels and smaller boutique hotels too. We don't discriminate.

Posting in here is the best way of announcing general interest/guaranteed presence in Japan. At some point, usually rather close to the date, one of the organizers will post a link for Eventbrite (at least that's what's been used the last two times) and you sign up for the things you wish to partake in. What those activities are won't be known until the organizers post some time in 2017 and there is no specific post illustrating who is participating in what.

Hope that helps!
