Unfortunately, the Berlin menu was far more limited in terms of vegetarian options and, while I'm not opposed to the Prussian dishes, the Bavarian menu is more appealing to a wider range of people.

If there is a clamouring for the Berlin buffet, I can look into changing this but I'll also need to check how many vegetarians we have (if any).

For the sake of transparency, and so people can clamour for it, this is the Prussian Menu:

I am pleased to announce the venues for the Thursday Night Dinner and Drinks.

Berlin is home to the largest Turkish population outside Turkey and Turkish food is one of the best cuisines available in Berlin.

Our venues in Kreuzberg are just a few minutes taxi or public transport from the main hotel districts around Gendarmenmarkt and Alexanderplatz.

We will meet for drinks from 18:00 at the excellent John Muir bar at Skalitzerstraße 51 (johnmuirberlin.com). These guys do great cocktails as well as beer and wine.

At 20:00, we will decamp to Hasir Ocakbasi Restaurant, one of the best Turkish grill restaurants in Berlin at Adalbertstraße 12.

For those who want to kick on there are many great options in the neighbourhood.

Normally, I'm all about experiencing the authentic local culture, but in this case, I may have to agree with our nomadic friend, here.

j/k...I'd actually probably cast a vote for the Prussian. It's easier for me to find decent Bavarian food--I probably wouldn't be able to replicate a Prussian experience as easily.

Yeah...I've actually come to realize that I like German Turkish food better than real Turkish food (though the latter is very good as well). And the former is very hard to find outside of Germany.

I will simply have to find a midnight Döner kebab upon arrival to compensate.

                                  Thank goodness for that.

Prussian cuisine is pretty a mashup of the more odd
aspects of the cuisines around it. When I see something
on the menu described as "nach Berliner Art" I tend to
walk away; I can't imagine food advertised "nach
                                  Preussischer Art."

I'm with the Bavarian choice all the way; it's kind of
the difference between boiled pig and roast pig.

Note too that red jelly with vanilla sauce (Rote
Gruetze) is one of the consolations of a Berliner meal.

Oh, I''m not saying that you can't get a good meal
here, but rather that it's not going to be indigenous
food, and it's going to cost you. The best roast pigeon

j/k...I'd actually probably cast a vote for the Prussian. It's easier for me to find decent Bavarian food--I probably wouldn't be able to replicate a Prussian experience as easily.

OMG. I am kicking myself for booking the later flight in now!!!

Guess who finally got off his butt and booked airfare???

*This guy with the two thumbs* ^

As usual, glad I waited. Ticket prices suddenly dropped, and I got a fare for almost $500 lower than usual.

Look forward to meeting new folks and reconnecting with some drinking buddies!
