May he RIP. And may the family and friends for whom he cared deeply find solace in the love and appreciation he had for them in life.
He never much agreed with me on matters in OMNI, but his presence there made it lively for me and many others who will no longer have him to debate there or stake out a side. I didn't know he was ill and it saddens me to know his absence here was due to that. I was wondering where he had gone since I no longer encountered his posts like before.
Of the things I'll most fondly remember about him, it won't be the OMNI PR stuff; it will be his discussions about his family.

I brought over a bottle of Woodford once but he was happy with whatever was part of the fellowship. As long as the bubbly didn't come from an auto parts store (NAPA). I shared that comment yesterday, where he didn't miss a beat while we were boating one fine afternoon a few years back.

There was a time that I read Omni regularly. These days I don't.
When I think of UP, I always think of the song that I hear every so often on the hard rock oldies station. While I didn't always agree with his Omni post, they were certainly entertaining.
Like many posters here, you feel that you know someone, even if you've never met them. I knew of UP's issues. Also his adopted daughter.

This about sums it up.
