Put me down as Gold.

Having just booked 4x r/t to the US (thank you, AA, for your sale! and now the morning after buyers "remorse") between January and June next year, I think any other travel frivolities are just going to have to wait.

Hmmm, I think at the very least, following this thread is in my best interest. Whether or not I can actually make it still remains unclear. I sort of like the idea of a goal for one Do on each continent (skipping Antarctica) over the course of a year ...

(I'm sure there are several of you here who have done so multiple times, but it's a new idea for me. )

I really like your thinking and may have to consider the same in the future^.

If current travel plans come to fruition (there is a fair bit of 'if' there) then won't be around for this.

However, maybe they won't. We'll see.

(I think that can translate as Silver)

Flights booked:
Fri 27 May
VA535 Syd 1710 Ool 1830
Sun 29 May
VA544 Ool 1905 Syd 2035

Staying 2 nights at Hilton SP

Unfortunately, I'm only VA Gold now and can only guest one into the VA lounge in Syd and Ool, and that's +1 who has no status with VA.

It was a promotional fare in reference to Qantas (re-)introducing direct MEL/OOL flights.

Sadly, the promotion finished last Friday.

288 days to go ^

41 have signed up as Platinum Definite
4 have signed up as Gold Maybe - possible
2 have signed up as Silver Interested
0 have indicated Bronze can't make it
Expect another 15 to 20 to sign up (after cancellations)[~60]
After the thread has been open for 15 days we tend to have 75% of the final count (is very predictable).
Due to easily accessible location may get more.
Some Platinum's will cancel (as always).

Of the 41 who are Platinum, 21 are from Australia, 17 from USA and 3 from NZ.

37 of the 41 are repeat offenders
Only 4 newbies at this time
14 of the 41 have attended the last 4 Oz Fests (KKE ASP PER CBR)

25 of the 41 have attended 5 or more Oz Fests
26 of the 41 have attended 4 or more Oz Fests

My plan for this is coming together.

Can get an exOSL fare in J to SYD for £1728, use a GUF1 and joker to travel in F

The Hilton with govt/military rate is coming in at $168/night.

While not booked my plan is:

Saturday 21/05/16 BA763 OSL-LHR
Saturday 21/05/16 BA11 LHR-SIN
Sunday 22/05/16 BA15 SIN-SYD

4 nights in Sydney before travelling onto the Gold Coast on the Thursday in time for the DO.

Monday 30/05/16 BA16 SYD-SIN
Monday 30/05/16 BA12 SIN-LHR
Tuesday 01/06/16 BA762 LHR-OSL

I would book that ex OSL J fare sooner than later. Can always be cancelled. To me a reasonable chance they will get withdrawn at some time and back to normal fares
