A stated above, I can't attend next Easter as I will be working but I will be in Osaka for 5 days in Januray, and I'm finding all the info posted above very useful^ Will be based at Hilton Osaka which will be very handy to the JR station for day trips to Nara, Kyoto, even Hiroshima etc.

I do recommend the post Onsen Do...you will get to know / see your fellow FTer in a way you have never done before

I think this is a great idea. What time does the party start?

Playing around with award availability (as you do) it seems Qantas will let me book AKL-MEL-SIN-DXB-HND in F (QF awards are distance based, than zone based, so it isn't exactly cheap!); not a bad way to get to the 'Do, if I may say so!

(the "taxes" are a killer though)

If you're a foodie, don't miss Kuromon market! Lots of places close around 1600, so be there early - trying for dinner there isn't really a good idea.

Put me down as a maybe, since I'm only 2 hours away from KIX.

That said, I flew PVG-CAN-IST-VIE-DXB-KIX to get there in April this year. :P

I am going to be in Osaka 26/3-30/3 as part of a larger Singapore/Japan & SQ Suites Trip.

In case anyone is interested the 2016 Osaka Sumo tournament is on 13/3-27/3.

Some more info here

Put me down as a 'maybe' for this. It depends on a bunch of things but I'd like to try and make it.

I forgot to post to the thread when SQ421 messaged me...

Having missed the last one, I shall again be assisting the team with organisation and shall definitely be attending this year.

My DH and I have been to Osaka the last four years in a row and we love it. We did Nara for the first time this past April.

I have to recommend the Marriott across from Tennoji Station. if you are Gold you will get lounge access and it was an amazing lounge. the service was really incredible. It's 55 stories if I remember correctly. Our room was on the 53rd floor. The views were great.

We bought the Osaka Pass which was really handy. We use the subway system exclusively to get around and as we we usually go around cherry blossom time we got a lot of use out the pass including the free cruise that goes by the National Mint where all the cherry blossoms are.

Here is the link https://www.osaka-info.jp/osp/en/facility/free.php

The food in Osaka is the best in all of Japan according to foodies, you must have this dish. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okonomiyaki My husband now makes it at home.

Great location for a DO.

It appears I may have cajoled my employer into letting me have the Saturday off. Assuming I can find some sort of workable flight, I'm in!

Since we now live 20 minutes away, count me in on at least some of the activities.
