Sorry for the lack of updates, everyone. Crankychick and I have both been in the hospital over the last few weeks, so that kinda put a roaring halt to everything on our to-do list. Updating attendees list and sorting out some more logistics is high on our agenda though - we haven't forgotten about anyone! ^

Margo and I did the long FRA-BKK-SYD today in Thai First Class on the 747, on our way home from Albania and Spain and Greece etc - http://tinyurl.com/nprofvl

Before take off, we had as our seatmate none other than jswong from NZ, on his way back home from Egypt, that many will recognize from his many previous ozfests.

The purser kindly offered to snap us all sipping 10 year old Dom Perignon, before we had even left the ground. Classy touch that Thai offers, as well as lobster and caviar etc.

We dropped Jeff off to his Sydney hotel, and chided him for not adding his name by now to the "GOLD" list .... I think we can call that a done deal now.

For some strange reason, he asked me if there were Hiltons, Sheratons and Casinos in Pahia, and I of course assured him there were many.

Glen

Yes, jswong, surely you are attending OzFest #12. We decided to hold it on the North Island, just for you!

jswong knows how many casinos there are in Bay of Islands, and it is probably the same number as the remaining bottles of Dom for the rest of the flight.

No, check the very base of the pic .. we ALL had one trust me.

Flight was delayed for an hour or so, so they'd not breach SYD curfew, so we made a pretty decent dent in the Dom larder while on the ground.

Jeff was banished to Row 1A, so his booze stash was there.

We invited him to join the real party animals on our 'guest seats' in 2E/2F.

The German guy in 1B had also flown with us from Frankfurt to SYD actually, so 12 hour layover in that massive TG First lounge in BKK with hot oil massages and Spas etc, and slumber rooms, dos not seem to be too onerous a thought for some pax.

In the interests of not seeing this $300 a bottle stuff poured down the galley sink before landing we sipped it until wheels down. Seemed like our FT patriotic duty to do so.

It's a tough life. Now would that be a Rimowa amenity kit I see in the photo?

Well spotted - yes they were actually Brendan in a metal box type deal. After decades of getting those appalling $2 WalMart excuses UA used to hand out in "First" I kept these, as they seemed to have all sorts of neat stuff in there for a change.

I was HIGHLY insulted to be handed a a "LARGE" size slumber suit. Someone of my slim and Petite frame should have been offered "SMALL" at least.

Someone told me these kind of kits/slumbersuits have a niche collector following and I may list them up on ebay for $50, and see if anyone seeks that stuff. Will pay for an airport cab fare one day.

WHY anyone would want either beats me, but hey, I sell postage stamps for a living and everyone else says to me "WHY on earth would anyone bother?"!

Hmm I don't look my best in that picture do I!

I am certain however that I probably looked worse later, after knocking off a few glasses, although was 1000% content

Trying to make the necessary arrangements but all should work out ok

Good to hear.

I heard it is a long established NZ Tradition is that all Wellington based folks going to Pahia shout the bar Dom Perignon - is that correct?

Maybe...

But perhaps Australia's leading stamp dealer could start a new tradition of shouting the group a few bottles as well.
