I'm posting this instead of using PM because I think my questions might be of general interest to participants.

Is there anything that absolutely shouldn't be sent as a gift?

I get the $50 minimum value, and know what the post office prohibits*, but is there a group rule on prohibited items?

Is it o.k. to send a collection of items, value $50+? Just to make up an example, address book, stationary, fancy pen set?

Most of my presents have been items that total a value of at least $50. I love those, because it's multiple things to open, and quite often, what really makes my day, people send things for not just me, but for Mr. Kipper and the kibblers.

When I get presents like that, it really shows that they thought about the entire family, not just me. I also try to send more than one present, for a total value of at least $50. I'd rather send a few things, and allow people to open multiple presents, rather than just send them 1 present. To me, it's more fun that way.

I also love getting multiple gifts in one. Lots of fun to open. And the things that I list generally aren't $50 price anyways.

In terms of prohibited items - I would generally say only illegal items (and consider what may be legal in your jurisdiction might be illegal in a recipient jurisdiction, i.e. wine is legal in the US but illegal in some Middle Eastern countries. I've sent wine and liquids in the post before without issue.

I live in Pennsylvania. Our liquor laws are only a half step removed from Prohibition.

There are definitely regional variations in what is lawful to buy/own/use. In California you can't even have sparklers on the 4th of July. In Pennsylvania I can buy and set off all sorts of rockets. In South Carolina they tried to sell me mortars.

While PA's liquor laws are rather restrictive, I've had beer magically appear on my doorstep. I can neither confirm nor deny that a Santa sent the beer, but...

Canada and its provinces also have some very archaic liquor laws. For example, one cannot ship or carry alcohol across a provincial border. The BC wineries are incensed at this.

Santa assistance. I have someone who is Jewish and I would like to pair them up with a Jewish Santa (OK, just go with my thoughts! Not the words!)

I only know of one person who signed up that is Jewish and that person is not a match, so I would like another Jewish person to possibly match up. If you do not mind sharing privately and let me know if you meet this requirement, it would be great!

Can people share items that have received or sent in the past? Just to get an idea of things people enjoy.

Last year's thread saw a lot of people post about what they received and how much they liked it, don't know about the other threads.

I received a model 787, a card game and some candies. All very much enjoyed and appreciated.
