A hole in Flyertalk that may never be filled: RIP Cordelli

I've never written one of these threads so I apologize if it's not the best, but I wanted a place for us to say goodbye to a great man.

It's being reported on Facebook by his wife that Cordelli is now on another plane, so to speak. I only met him once but I really liked talking with him online. His posts here, his Facebook statuses and pictures (especially of his shelter recuse pets) and his knowledge about wines was very impressive. His last Facebook status was about a meteor shower which is about the best way one can go out.

Mike, you'll be missed, and I hope wherever you are there are unlimited Saver Awards and that you know how much we all cared about you.

I am in shock. This is a great loss, for his wife, for all his friends, for rescue animals for whom he had great passion, and for FlyerTalk. Many of us had met Mike in person. Those who hadn't have been helped by him on thread after thread on FlyerTalk. It is hard to accept that he is gone.

I'd like to share this email which was sent to me on Facebook, if anything can sum up Mike this is it:

I met him this past may at an adoption event in CT, We came up from GA for another one last weekend and he worked his tail off! He was just that kind of guy! He didn't wait to be asked to do something, he saw a need and met it. He was forever grabbing a mop and cleaning up after the puppies. Such a likable guy I loved him and his wife, Anna! As great of people as you will ever meet.

I just learned of Mike's passing, please keep his wife in your prayers. Also, I checked the settings, and I see that Mike made his last Facebook post yesterday public, so I'll share it with all of you:

http://www.facebook.com/cordelli
"Take some time to look up into the sky tonight and tomorrow night if you live away from lights. Starts tonight, but Sunday night may be the show with 100 per hour. Search perseid showers for viewing tips"

I'll be looking for Cordelli in those showers
