Just to let everyone know -- the restaurant will let us in at 6:45, but there will be a few diners using part of the space before us, so please be courteous.
Also, you will be required to remove your shoes when entering, so I would recommend against wearing footwear that is difficult to remove. Bare feet will not be a problem. (Slippers are provided if you need to use the restroom.)

N'EX to Shinjuku
Folks, if you are still to arrive in Shinjuku forget what I said about how to get out of the station. I've just spent almost an hour inspecting various parts of the station, in particular platform 1 where our train to Kamakura departs from, platform 11 for Kawaguchiko and platforms 5 & 6 where N'EX arrives. I've no idea what's going on but half of the station appears to be under construction (new elevators being built) and the only escalators on platforms 5 & 6 are going in the wrong direction. Hopefully when N'EX from NRT arrives they will reverse the direction. But I can confirm platforms 5 & 6 are detached from the rest of the station (only connected via an underground passage with platforms 7 & 8) and the best way to get out is still via the Southern Terrace Exit.

Hakone trip
Bad news! There are only 9 reserved seats on Holiday Kaisoku Fujisan #1 left and the seats are not together. Either we have to go to the station early to make sure we can get unreserved seats or find a slightly more expensive alternative. Even the more expensive option will need to be booked ASAP as seats are filling up. I'm checking the revised price and will post as soon as I can.
Please post if you'd rather not go on the trip if it costs 2-3,000 yen more.
P.S. For the record the ticket will be a little under 1,000 yen more expensive.

And thus it begins
The first event begins in just under an hour.
I am back in my room at the HR and will head up to the Regency Club for the next ~50 minutes before meeting many of you at Eau de Vie.
Looking forward to a great weekend!

Revised plan for the Mt Fuji/Hakone trip
Not having much luck with internet on this trip. . I seem to have lost what I've typed - so briefly before going across the road for some drinks I desperately need...
We can travel on Limited Express Azusa 7 leaving Shinjuku at 8:30am, changing at Otsuki and arrive in Kawaguchiko at 11:00am. This was actually our original plan until I found Holiday Kaisoku Fujisan would be running again.
I'm not sure exactly how much more it will cost. The guy at the station said 1,450 yen more (so effectively 930 yen more) though when I checked online the difference is less.
Seats on Azusa 7 are also filling up, so I plan to go to the station later this evening to buy tickets and reserve seats. I hope this is acceptable to most people.
I realise some people are still travelling and won't have the chance to respond but the difference in cost is not as bad as I first thought.

Hi all,
Since SQ421 sadly will not be able to attend, I will be happy to step up and lead the group (unless someone else would like to). Tokyo Disneyland opens at 8:00 and DisneySea opens at 8:30. To avoid the opening-time chaos, I plan to arrive an hour or so after opening, departing from Shinjuku station at around 8:30 AM. If you'd like to join, meet me at at the Starbucks at the West Exit of Shinjuku Station at 8:15 AM--I'll be the American wearing a black polo, jeans, and tennis shoes. I will personally probably be heading to DisneySea, but will be happy to help anyone get to Disneyland too.
If you have any questions, PM me. I look forward to seeing you there!

I'll probably be waiting under the Odakyu sign for the Disneyland trip.
You'll need „390 each way for the JR trains, plus „260 each way for the monorail if you're going to DisneySea. (If you're going to Disneyland, you can just walk from the JR Maihama Station.) Suica works for both JR and the monorail. Park Admission is „6,400 for an adult one-day and one-park ticket. Unlike the US parks, Tokyo Disney Resort doesn't have a one-day ticket that allows access to both parks unless you are staying at a Disney hotel.

In news that will surprise no one, there seems to be more than one Starbucks that could be described as being at the "West Exit of Shinjuku Station", so for the avoidance of doubt, I mean the counter-only location on the right side of this photo taken just outside the fare gates at the West Entrance of Shinjuku:
I'll probably be waiting under the Odakyu sign for the Disneyland trip.

I did take almost an identical picture as the one above.

How fortunate for me that right behind me at the ATM at NRT was rwoman. The ~1.5 hours to Shinjuku wasn't bad ...
I'm a bit far from the Hyatt, about a 20-minute walk, so I don't think there will be many people there if I head over. Will probably do the Shinjuku walk tomorrow.
