It is with great sadness...Scott the flier has left us
Those of us who have been around FT since the earliest of days will have known Scott the Flyer (Scott Guy). Many of us have shared time with him on trips or other occasions like the legendary CatmanDos. I received a message tonight that Scott succumbed to his battle with cancer last night at his Milpitas CA home. He went into remission two weeks ago after almost two years of normalcy following a series of chemo treatments. RIP big man! Enjoy a pint with Newself.

Thanks for posting Dave. I was with Scott and his family during his last days, though not when he finally went to the big first class cabin in the sky. He was at home during the last days under the care of family and hospice. We had an early Thanksgiving and Christmas celebration Tuesday night so he could be there. Good bye my friend. It was an absolute pleasure knowing you and us being best of friends. I know he and Newself are looking down on us drinking scotch and smoking cigars saying we are waiting for you to join us someday, but not yet, not yet (stolen from Gladiator). A toast to you. I will remember you always.
Scott, me and Dave "Newself" on the steps of St Andrews Golf course. I'm the only one left of this threesome.

This hurts.
Scott was an amazingly vivacious person who had long been a friend. From way back when in Singapore for cold beers as he traveled back from the HD factory in Malaysia we would recall the days of the 70's when he would visit his cousin Ray in Oakland and attend games. On his recent trip to Japan we could not catch up and it looks like it will have to wait a few more years (with luck).
For those of you who knew him, a (((HUG))) from me to you, for those of you who did not, you missed out on knowing a very cool individual.
Much respect Scott, you are missed.

I was upset when shareholder shared w/ me at the recent United Do that Scott wasn't doing well and might not make it to the annual guys get-together, so to get his email yesterday that Scott did pass on to that first class cabin in the sky was not unexpected, but still upsetting. RIP Scott, and may you & newself enjoy being in Row 1 forever.

I attended the Memorial service for Scott. Here are my notes.
There must have been 50 - 60 people attending. A few people spoke, including Jim aka BAZE. It was Scott that brought Jim to Flyertalk back in the old days. Let me see if I can describe it. A nice room in a parklike setting. A video presentation with photo montage of Scotts life. There were several photo boards on easels throughout the room. Plenty of talk of how much Scott loved his family... and his friends. He was a special person.
After the speaking was over, there was a nice decorative box filled with assorted cigars, some Cubans + Guinness. Lots of smoking going on outside on this beautiful sunny day. Scott loved his cigars and Guinness.
Around noon we went back inside for a nicely prepared buffet lunch of salad, pasta, fruit and chicken cutlet (which was delicious by NY standards).
Flyertalk is a very special place. @:-)
