If you are planning to stay at CP Canberra for Ozfest 2012, please note that award rates for some CPs may be increasing from 18 Jan to 35K PC pts / night. Currently, CP Canberra still has award nights available at 25K PC pts per night. A paid flexible rate is now a whopping AUD$315 per night (+1.5% credit card surcharge)!! You are duly warned@:-)

The AAA rate for the CP is AUD 261 which, while not cheap, is still better than AUD 315. That is cancellable up to 6 p.m. local time.
You can add me to the list as staying there.
I still need to figure out my SYD-CBR flight on Sat the 26th. I'm assuming that it is best to leave more cushion (4 hours?) for: 1) flight delays and 2) going through immigration and customs and then standby for something earlier if all goes smoothly.

For those looking for hotels there are a range of good options within walking distance of the city centre which are cheaper than the CP. The Novotel is showing at $153, the Mercure (formerly Olim's, 15 minutes walk) is $126, Rydges Lakeside is $129 and the Diamant Hotel (one of the best in CBR) is $220 with a suite available for $315 (less than CP).
While I realise that we are all attached to our points, I would encourage you to look at your options with some other hotels with the Diamant being an excellent option.

If you look at past Oz Fest's there have been informal semi organized lunches on the Friday & sometimes on the Thursday evening. Some people start to arrive on Thursday. Most are gone by Monday evening. For CBR expect many will arrive in CBR Sat morning from SYD MEL.
