MEET AND GREET AT AIR NEW ZEALAND PARKING
SATURDAY 11 DECEMBER 2010, 0745 – 0955

HOW TO GET THERE:

From the city:

  • Take the Airbus Express from the Britomart (Auckland Central) railway station, Queen Street, or Mount Eden Road

  • Taxi – call Discount Taxis on 09 529 1000 – approx NZD$40 city to airport – other companies likely much more expensive

  • Driving:
    1. Auckland CBD to Airport via SH1, Epsom, and SH20: http://bit.ly/hfqw0E
    2. Auckland CBD to Airport via Sandringham Road and SH20: http://bit.ly/hHAqZ7
    3. Auckland CBD to Airport via SH1, Onehunga, and SH20: http://bit.ly/gfcIuy

Option 1 is recommended for those coming from the central city.
Option 2 is recommended for coming from Western suburbs of the CBD such as Kingsland, Grey Lynn, Ponsonby, etc.
Option 3 is recommended for those coming from the South-Eastern suburbs such as Onehunga, Penrose, Mt Wellington, etc.

Free parking will be available for the day courtesy of Air New Zealand Parking.

From the airport:
  • DO NOT TAKE A TAXI. Most will charge about NZD$30 for travel within "Airport Environments".

  • Free Air NZ Parking shuttle will take you from NZ Domestic between doors 2 and 3, JQ Domestic out the front of the terminal, or International from the left of door 9. Tell the driver your surname and that you are part of the Flyertalk group.

  • Walking is not recommended as it is a busy road, but would take approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Note that the Holiday Inn Auckland Airport is just 300m (330 yards) away from 13 Freight Place.

WHAT:

All the FTers and guests will gather for a light breakfast before being welcomed by Verity Jade, our resident Air NZ FTer "VJKoru" who looks after all of Air New Zealand's domestic lounges and the Valet Parking service. Terry Baker, manager of Air New Zealand Parking, will also welcome you all.

We are hopeful that Bruce Parton, another NZ staffer (well, a Group General Manager!) many of you have seen around on FT, may be able to take some time to come and say hello to you all as well.

We’ll then be whisked away by the Air NZ Parking shuttles to the maintenance hangars at the airport to begin our tour there.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING A CURRENT & VALID, PASSPORT, NEW ZEALAND DRIVER LICENCE, OR NEW ZEALAND FIREARMS LICENCE WITH YOU OR YOU WILL BE DENIED ACCESS TO THE MAINTENANCE BASE!

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

Thanks wijomas for organising, this sounds great! ^

If am currently scheduled to fly SYD-AKL-LAX during those dates but if I can make some changes the DUF family might join the festivities. MMMV so to speak.

Definitely interested here!

If the events encroach into the weekdays, I might need to pull some strings, but otherwise I'm on board (no pun intended).

A discount code to fly across the Tasman (ex-BNE) would be great. It will be interesting in any case, because IIRC by this time the new Tasman/Pacific fare structure will be in place.
