Though we might break the record for largest aircraft ever to land and taxi in IVC

You mean busses go that far? I thought that they were for school runs or for shuttles coming from a plane/airport!!

Sounds like the original plan from a few weeks ago is blown away. Well done wijomas!! Colour me there.....

EWR-MUC-BKK-MEL-AKL//SYD-BKK-IST-FRA-EWR booked, mostly in F.

I'll have to be awake at a gawdawful hour on the 14th to get to DUD to get to SYD early enough to pick up the return and that (along with rental car costs and that positioning segment costs) might be enough to scrap the adventure, but as of now consider me highly probable.

Sorry about our lack of flights early in the morning ex-ZQN during the summer.

I feel for you immensely. 3.5 hours drive ZQN to DUD at the hour of the morning. Are you going to try for the 9:45am DUD-AKL?

Yup. Was/am considering the 7am from IVC as well. I'd likely just drive from the party through the night to the airport and then be miserable the rest of the day but who knows. I'd also have to not drink much at the party which wouldn't be like me at all.

Why can't you just take the first ZQN-AKL flight of the day? Not early enough?

Or are you just a sucker for punishment? (Driving a rental car one way, starting it really, really early and having to pass up on copious amounts of alcohol and food?)

First flight of the day to AKL isn't until 12:20 and he has a flight out of SYD at 16:30

Aaah... used NZ's timetables to have a check. NZ620 doesn't operate in December (darn off-season). Cripes.

That's still brutal punishment by any means.

Personally because you're flying from South South Island in NZ to make a connection which at best would give you 2 hours up your sleeve (with no chance of connecting itineraries), it's all still pretty risky. Then again, us Flyertalkers (yours truly included) are used to taking such risks!

2 hours is plenty, can't imagine there would be any problems during the summer months. Winter might be slightly trickier...

DUD-AKL gets in at 09:30 (or 11:25 but I think he's looking at the earlier one) and doesn't connect to AKL-SYD until 1pm then got 2 hours for an int-int transit in SYD. No problem.

Guys and girls,

What would you all think of doing the tours/flights on Saturday or Sunday and staying in Queenstown a couple of days until the dinner with the Star Alliance guys on Monday night?

We'll add some fun activites in Queenstown over the weekend also.
