Which websites qualify for 3X points?

3 ThankYou Points for each $1 spent on purchases made at eligible retail (including department store websites, specialty store websites, warehouse store websites and boutique websites) and travel websites (including online travel agencies, and hotel and airline websites).

3 ThankYou Points for each $1 spent on products and services purchased directly from AT&T, including payment of monthly phone, cable or internet bills.

You'll earn an Anniversary Bonus of 10,000 ThankYou Points after you spend $10,000 in purchases in the prior cardmembership year.

Special note about eBay and PayPal - varies widely as to whether the bonus points are awarded. It seems to vary depending on merchant with no real discernible pattern.
(Ref, Ref, Ref, Ref, Ref, Ref, Ref, Ref, Ref)

Certain Non-Qualifying Purchases. You wont earn 3X Points for purchases of and payments for medical services, insurance, taxes and government services, real estate, real estate rentals, purchases or reloading of prepaid or gift cards, education, charities and utilities.
You wont earn 3X Points for purchases from independent wireless dealers, non-AT&T-owned stores, or AT&T resellers unless you are paying for an AT&T service, such as your phone, cable or internet.
(Effective 9/22/2019)

All payments coding as online are hit and miss. Sometimes it codes as online, sometimes it doesn't. YMMV.

I don't see why not. My preferred was premier a few months ago. At the time of downgrade they gave me the option to change to
Double cash or Costco. I wasn't familiar w the att card at the time.

Is there way to tell if a purchase will get 3x before the statement closes?

Sometimes even after the statement closes you can't test. Go Citi IT.

I just realized I never did the phone purchase and I didn't do the $2000 spend. Oops.
Thinking on closing the cards, any arguments not to?

3x for online purchases. easily worth it for me. add citi price rewind and 24m extended warranty this is worth it for me. the alternative up to now was buying amazon gc at staples but having to forego protections.

I haven't tried Plastiq yet but the 3x on this card may even open up some more possibilities.

plus, the 10k TYP bonus at the end of the year more than makes up for it.

speaking as someone who recently converted TY Premier to this card.

Main airline is United, so I use TYP for SQ Awards on UA

this plus united club will be my main volume drivers

speciality categories remain:
CSR
Citi prestige (airline spend, due to best insurance protection)
Amex EDP (groc and gas)
Freedom 5x

keeping for benefits, without putting any spend on it:
Ritz (may have to start spending the $10k/y on Ritz whenever Amex loses the SPG gold benefit)
Amex plat

I've had the Prestige card for over a year and just see the bulk points earned summary on the statements. I never had to do serious reconciliations on the Prestige statements but i've put a lot of spend on this card and will be looking to reconcile which of my (regular) online merchants posted as 3x because if not I'll keep using United Club for those.

Have you guys tried talking to the phone reps to go over charges and the points earned?

thanks

Does it matter if I return a purchase in store or mail it back?

Got a bed bath purchase and wondering if I shd bother driving out to a store and returning it or using the prepaid label.

Thoughts? Does it claw back 3x if returned to the brick and mortar ?

I've had the card for two years. Returns, whether locally or post, have always processed as -1X TYP.

Yes, and they seem to have no additional information- one rep I spoke to was just going through and saying things like "well, this seems like it should be online retail, but I'm not sure".

I did this for the first two statements and never really got any resolution. Both times they gave me a small number of miles for my troubles.

Thanks. I wonder if it would be wise to return during the same statement cycle or wait for this statement to close or have you experienced +3 -1 in the same cycle. Nothing big, sub $250 purchase but I hate having packages cluttering my place
