Citi denies me one day approves me next day
A few days ago I applied for four credit cards following the Hawaii travel challenge outlined on The Frugal Travel Guy blog.
I was instantly approved for the first 3 cards. The third card, the Citi Platinum Select AAdvantae World Master Card said they have to think about it and get back to me.
Yesterday I received a letter dated Jan 11, 2014 that said I was approved and my card will arrive soon.
Today I received a letter dated Jan 10, 2014, saying my application was not approved because "You have submitted multiple applications for credit."
I don't get it.
So I just called the 888 number, the automatic person acknowledged that I have an active card.
I guess I can look at this as being kind of funny...but my laughter will kick in once my card arrives and I make my first successful transaction. ^

The same thing happened when I got my AA card. In my case, I got an error message at the end of submitting my application, so I redid it. The "multiple applications" probably refers not to the other cards you applied for, but to a duplicate application (real or imagined by Citi).

Hey now, let's not dis on The Frugal Guy, he is the one who introduced me to the whole points thing in the first place after seeing him on t.v and then going to his blog. If it wasn't for him, I would currently have a trip to the Caribbean planned for May.
