Passports expire in 2018. Visas expire 2025
My passport and those of my two children expire in 2018. We have 10 year visas that expire in 2025. Are the visas transferable to the new passports we will be getting next year?

As an adult, yours definitely is transferable. By "transferable" I mean the validity. You need to travel to China with both old and new passports and present both at check-in for your inbound flight, and again at Chinese Immigration. Do not try to physically move the visa from the old to the new passport or you will invalidate it.
For minor children, I'm not 100% sure but I think it's the same policy.

From Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United States consular services FAQs:

I get a new passport, but I have a valid Chinese visa in my old passport. Can I travel with both passports to China without applying for a new visa?
Yes, you may travel with both passports provided that your visa is still valid and the personal details including your name, sex, date of birth and nationality on both passports are exactly the same.
