Best way from PVG to Disney at about 10:30pm?
Taxis pretty safe? First visit to China.

Taxis are pretty much your only reasonable option. Yes, taxis are safe. Have your destination in writing as drivers will not speak English.

Yeah, I have yet to encounter a taxi driver who knew more English than about "Hello". I find the best way to get around Shanghai is by subway (being under the streets you don't run into traffic!) but you're too late for them.

I think walking might actually be faster than the subway in the OP's case (if the subway was open).

I checked the subway schedule, it's not open.

I take it Disney is near the airport? I've never paid attention to where it actually is, I know it's at the end of a different subway than the one that serves the airport, I would have thought that meant a considerable separation.

Line 2 passes within ~2 miles of the park (and Google/Baidu will tell you to walk/bus from Chuansha Stn), but if you actually wanted to take the subway all the way, you'd need to take 2 to 16 to 11. That probably doesn't take 3:45, but I would guess at least 2.5 hours (compared with 15 minutes by car).

Unfortunate OP can't get there before 10:15PM, Maglev still avail till 10:30PM.

I've been planning this very itinerary; Maglev to Longyang Rd Station. Connect to Line 16 to Luoshan Rd Station. Transfer to Line 11 to Disney Resort Station. Total of 6 subway stations.

8 minute Maglev ride and 26 minute subway ride. Transfer times not included.

Why not take the 15 minute taxi ride?
Cheaper than your plan, even if you're going alone, and Longyang Road overshoots Disney by 15 km.

It will be more like 40 minutes for the subway with the transfers. I also have a big issue with the subway in Shanghai with luggage is that they have turnstiles. Terrible to enter and exit a platform with big luggage.

Okay. Well, you could always ride it to Longyang Rd and back to the airport...then get a taxi.

Something else to consider: I'm assuming you're going to one of the hotels, since you're arriving that late. It's a bit of a hike from the Metro station to the hotels, especially if you're dragging kids or luggage along. I don't know if the resort shuttles would be running that late--depends on theme park hours, I believe.
