The services include:
7 daily D trains Jinan-Yantai
5 of them to Yantai South (duration 3:18 to 3:34, price second class 161 yuan 5 jiao, first class 193 yuan 5 jiao)
and 2 to Yantai (3:57 to 3:58, price second class 165 yuan, first class 198 yuan)
7 daily G trains Jinan-Yantai
3 of them to Yantai South (duration 3:23 to 3:28)
and 4 to Yantai (duration 3:46 to 3:55)

Weihai, definitely interesting to poke around for a couple of days. And it's always been a bit of a pain to get to. Being able to use HSR to get to Yantai or Rongcheng, thence a short 1+ hr bus ride to Weihai, will make things easier.

Thanks for additional info on the high speed G departure that doesn't involve a transfer, though it might not work timing-wise for everyone. BTW one interesting loop route out of Beijing for anybody who's got a week, is Beijing > Weihai > ferry to Dalian > Dandong > Beijing. Slightly more time and you can put Qingdao in there on the way out and Shenyang on the way back. A different sort of China trip from the usual. However, it's a trip best done in warmer weather months.

Weihai is magnificient. Probably the most pleasant city in China and with some of the best food.
