Beijing Meet Up (End of the Month, August)?

Hey there-

I'll be in Beijing during 23-26/7 of this month, if anyone would like to meet up. Goals for this trip include a visit to the Niujie area, Yanjiao, and perhaps to the abandoned amusement park; if you're interested in going to any of these places/anywhere else, let me know.

Wonderland? Looks more demolished than abandoned.

Join our Wechat group in order to discuss this stuff; FT has failed to keep up on the technology front.

Wonderland is gone, as of 2-3 years ago.

Not sure if they ever demoed the concrete castle.
But leveled all the other structures.

Fiddlesticks! Any substitutes for Wonderland in the Beijing area?

Also, how's Datong? Perhaps I'll avail of the NAY flight (and if anyone has pointers about getting to that airport, I'd appreciate it).

If amusement parks are your thing, happy valley is okay, but I also enjoy chaoyang park myself.

Regarding nay, unless you're near xidan (free bus), taxi/uber is the only sane way to get there.

You like Chaoyang Park's amusement park? Really? I am surprised. As it was across the street of my apartment, I used to walk through the park often and the amusement park reminds me of something out of the 60s. Adequate for kids below 10 years old.
Happy Valley is a real amusement park.

The amusement park component of Chaoyang Park is just a small fraction of the overall package. After Beihai, it is my favorite park in BJ.

Oh...this may be too last-minute, but how about today (8/24) for lunch at the Xiaoyun location? Anytime that works for you.

Jiatong,

I'm sorry about the mix-up; darn jet-lag had me get to sleep at 8am. Not to mention, flyertalk wasn't working on the mobile phone (but on the laptop, 没问题).

Hope you were going to wait for a confirmation first.

In spite of this, would you want to try for tomorrow (8/25)? If you're up for eating at a Lanzhou lamian or Xinjiang place, that would be swell. Can't find that good stuff at home.
