Rare early photographs of Beijing

The Rare Foreigner Who Could Capture the Essence of Ancient Peking

Photography, which includes the finest collection of Child’s Peking photographs, are on display in the exhibit “Qing Dynasty Peking: Thomas Child’s Photographs” at London’s China Exchange from Nov. 10–15.
I wish I can go there.

You mean you wish to go to the exhibit in London or the Beijing of 1870? I wish the latter.

Chinese government said they would lift the ban on Facebook when Mark Zuckerberg can actually speak comprehensible Putonghua.

:-)

I would like to see that exhibition. I come to china several times a year, never back to the past but in the future. In Beijing still a lot of building going on, but if you visit the newer cities there is much more going on these days.

was jus tin XuZhou and that's really one big building pit

I used to go several times a year to a couple of townships near to Xuzhou, close to 邳州市 between 1995 and 2005. I imagine that these places have changed out of all recognition since then.

As regards the photos in the exhibition, they look wonderful.
