White Swan Hotel - Guangzhou?

Is anyone familiar with the White Swan Hotel? Would you recommend it? Also, need recommendations for do's/dont's in Guangzhou.

Thanks.

IMO, if you can snag it for 20% less than a flagged hotel in the same area, go for it. (This comment constitutes indirect praise for the establishment in question because I'd normally use a 35% discount as the break even point; I have stayed there.)

I have stayed at the White Swan hotel many times since 1986. I enjoy the quiet location on Shamian Island. The staff that I've encountered at the hotel are very nice.

There is also a restaurant about 2 blocks away from the hotel which makes a great roasted squab.

I travel to Guangzhou quite often, and really wouldn't recommend it just for its location. Not really convienent to most activities. It is a nice, albeit, old hotel though.

Just do a quick search and you will find an abundance of 5 star hotels there.

As a quick "don't" Make sure you don't tip any child beggers, or you are going to have 15 of em suddenly appear and tug on your every limb.

Safe travels.

I travel to Guangzhou frequently, but do not stay at the White Swan. It is not in a central location, unless you are there adopting a baby, which is the only time I did stay there. I was traveling with my sister when she adopted my niece. It is a lovely hotel, obviously very kid friendly. Not sure what you are looking for, but hope this helps.
