Anyone know where to get some cheap Hairy Crabs (Da Zha Xie) in Shanghai? I remember there used to be a seafood market where you can buy it and go to a nearby restaurant and let them cook it for you. I heard that market is closed now. Anyone know a new place?

The decent hotel brunches should have them (hairy crabs, btw; we've already been scolded about dropping Chinese terms in thread content, let alone titles..), but the Thanksgiving Dinner buffets at the same hotels would be my pick.
ah, sorry about that. I didn't know the english name for it. haha I've actually been to the one in Yun nan rd, I'm looking for more.. bulk quantity (15-20) as presents and personal enjoyment. I remember the seafood market used to sell them for about 50-60rmb each for a pretty decent sized crab.
Is there anything like these available in the US? They are the #1 thing she misses from China.
The Chinese Mitten Crab is listed under the Federal Lacey Act which makes it illegal in the United States to import, export, or conduct interstate commerce of this species without a permit.

The place I went was a rest station between Shanghai and Nanjing, it's actually about 1.5 hours drive from Shanghai. It was one of the best, many drivers stop there just to teast the crab, plus they are really fresh because it's very close to the lake where the crab grow, but I'm not sure if now is the good season to teast the crab.
I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but if you ask, people will be able to tell you, or find out for you.
I miss that restaurant so much, I have droven there just for the food there twice.
