I noticed the system is not too sophisticated: I recently returned from a trip and was in line waiting to add money to my farecard. A Blue Line passenger who had just arrived at ORD gave me her card explaining there was only a couple of dollars on it but she wasn't going to use it again. I added money to the card and when I dipped it to get to the train, noticed to only deducted $.25. The system saw it as a transfer - definitely not what I expected.
Now, if there were only some place at the airport where you could get a transfer put on your Transit Card. Imagine the possibilities (but please don't say it out loud).

Isn't your time worth more than a trip out to kiss-n-fly and back (and hope the bus is there) to save $2-3? If there was an option upstairs at the bus/shuttle center, it'd be a different story.

I'll decide for myself what my time is worth, but thanks for your concern. We can let others can do the same. I personally have not turned down any clients or taken any time off of work to do the trip.

You'd be better off to offer people coming off the train a dollar to pay for you with their card.

Unfortunately, paying someone for their transfer would be illegal. See CTA ordinance 006-75 (pdf). And I would still need a transfer of my own to get home from the train station, so unless they had two transfers left and were willing to let me keep their fare card, it wouldn't help. (You know that not everyone lives/works within walking distance of an 'L' station, right?)
