Food Recommendations

I'll be in Chicago for one night next week & will be staying at The James...I've never been to Chicago and plan on walking around the areas around Millennium/Grant Park, etc. and would love to hear anybodies thoughts on the best (cheaper) restaurants around for breakfast & lunch. Already have plans for dinner. Thanks in advance!

Many many posts on this. Search this forum for pizza, Italian beef, or whatever you seek.

One thought: Heaven on Seven if you like Cajun/Louisiana food. 111 S. Wabash, 7th floor I believe.

You may want to check out the Chicago forum on www.chowhound.com

If I remember correctly, there are quite a few threads about breakfast and lunch options right where you'll be.

I don't get down there often, but generally feel as if Michigan Avenue proper is a bit of a wasteland when it comes to meals. That said, I would suggest The Gage
for lunch. Mercat a la Plancha is also a great place in the neighborhood.

If you're willing to walk, you could head up to Purple Pig, Xoco, Pastoral or Bandera for lunch. (These are all quite close to The James.)

In addition to Chowhound, check out LTHForum, which is devoted to Chicago eating.

Big +1 to the Gage. Lunch there is better than dinner IMO, excellent sandwiches and reasonably priced.

The Purple Pig is another good option, if you can get a table.

Yes, that's where the Seven comes from.
