An inert grenade in a checked bag is a piece of metal (in a shape that freaks out the x-ray operator) no more dangerous to the aircraft than the metal frame of the checked bag it is in. After the manual bag check determines it is an inert piece of metal, how is it a threat?

Happens all the time. Seems like there's a "team" all set to go with pro-TSA comments, no matter the time of day or night.

Don't assume that those pro-TSA comments are nefariously planted by the blog team. We all know from personal experience that there are millions of Anything For Security type folks in the US who are so afraid of the Big Bwown Muswim Tewwowist Bogieman that they're overjoyed when TSA feels up a 12-year old girl, throws away bottles of water or shampoo, tries to steal a Lucite lightsaber cane from an actor, or prevents a cupcake in a jar from getting onto a plane, and dismiss any criticism when they miss five pounds of unhidden, undisguised C4, still in its US government wrapper marked C4 HIGH EXPLOSIVE.

I'm sure most, if not all, of the praise comments are completely legit. Posted by people with whom we disagree vehemently to the point of believing them to be utter fools, but legitimate personal opinions nonetheless.
