TSA spokeswoman Lori Dankers says that aside from the identification mistake, Salata was properly screened.

The TSA should come out to just admit that identification of passengers is not needed for passengers to be "properly screened". But the TSA won't do so because then their power to behave like petty, little Napoleons just won't be there like it is now.

If he had ID, and didn't go through the enhanced process. (Though that involves knowing the name and where you're flying, and the likely gender mismatch ought to raise suspicions.)

TSA Week In Review: Monday, November 30, 2015
No turkeys were discovered by the turkeys at the TSA over the Thanksgiving holiday and all bears were deterred

- Four “cat eyes” were discovered this week in carry-on bags
- A flare gun and two flares were discovered in a carry-on bag at Palm Springs (PSP)
- 5 canisters of bear deterrent were discovered in carry-on bags this week.
- A firecracker was discovered in a carry-on bag at the Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport (DIK)
- Knives were discovered in carry-on bags last week at BWI, PHX, AMA, BWI, BTM, PVD, SLC, IAH, BIL and DAL.
