I build time into my schedule just for these reasons.

A TSM (or acting) is required to be on duty in each terminal while screening operations are being conducted. If no TSM is on duty or available then that fact should be reported to the DHS OIG along with the names of those who made such a statement along with the name of the checkpoint supervisor.

I think I recall someone said that the clerks have to close down a checkpoint if no TSM is present. When the poster got the lie from the clerk that the TSM wasn't around, the poster demanded that the checkpoint be closed according to TSA regulations. The TSM magically appeared.

That's not good! This should never bring a gun, knives, grenades, and boxcutters, as well. The weapons is prohibited. You can't bring a guns at security. You must placed them into checked bag instead of taking a gun at security. You are not allowed to bring a knives, gun, boxcutters, grenades, and fireworks, as well. You must obey the TSA regulations. You have followed the specific rules.

But not a word about the Philadelphia Milk Raid last Monday or the TSA Special Sexual Assault Screening at LaGuardia this past Thursday.

And one of those so-called grenades (center picture item found at TPA) is a small bottle that has the capacity to hold one whole ounce of cologne.

Of course when any organization is only 5% effective, based on in house testing, any finds look good even if they are not threat items.

There is no doubt in my mind that the plaque-mounted novelty grenades ("take a number") in the pax checked bag were confiscated solely because the TSOs involved wanted them.

They were clearly novelties, described as such on the blog. They were in a checked bag - we were told that the reason stylized grenade-like clear bottles of a very expensive, well known perfume weren't being confiscated because they were a real threat, but because a bad person could use them to fool unwitting pax and flight crew. That isn't a possibility if the items are in a checked bag, so once the items were determined to be fake, the only reason for confiscating them was because the screeners wanted them.

I didn't realize the 'zero tolerance for replicas' also extended to the contents of checked bags. I guess I better not pack a t-shirt with the image of an armed US soldier or a jedi light saber or they'll get confiscated during any search.
