I would wager, however, that those were true pat downs, not the gropes that TSA agents perform. The Japanese female security screeners were not putting their hands in the genital area of male passengers - or females passengers either.

Do not care. Maybe such stats will clue Congress into this disgusting, un-American agency's turnover being no better than before it was Communized. It's certainly not been Professionalized. Other than perhaps in terms of professional organized crime.

I don't know the answers to those questions. But note that the article states that only one-third of TSOs are female. Even if male and female passengers are chosen for pat-downs at equal rates, the inequity in the gender makeup of the TSA means that female TSOs would perform more pat-downs than male TSOs.
1. Females are not getting to use other stations, which leads to the status that the cannot be promoted.
2. Females are preferred for patting down children. It is same gender across the board.

Most members of Congress go through the same security as the rest of the general public. And as with the public ... some members of Congress view the inconvenience/indignity of airline security as evidence of its effectiveness.

I think part of the problem is that the TSA views itself as some type of a law enforcement organization, and therefore attracts more male applicants. Many of the staff see it as a stepping stone to a job as a sworn officer. It should not be seen like that; rather, it is a clerical job. Once that is made clear, it will attract more females.

I just read that female TSOs feel that they are being discriminated against because they have to do more pat-downs than male TSOs, which they believe hurts their ability to be promoted.

The TSA would prefer female pax go bra less. This would certainly boost recruitment. Heterosexual male TSOs could leer at all the pokies. Lesbian TSOs could molest breasts of female pax flying Commamdo.

Perhaps some of the women in the office jobs moved there because it was a less-desirable job but a faster route to promotion.
