Bomb threat claimed - MS 985 CAI-JFK bound diverted to PIK w. fighter jet escorts !
Here we go again, I think it's the 3rd incident this week (Frontier Air 601 ** was a domestic flight with "possible security threat") - Egyptair #985 (CAI-JFK) is now sitting on the tarmac at (UK) Scotland's Glasgow (PIK) Airport, after a letter was found inflight of a bomb threat.
Looks like pilots on the 77W with 300 pax & crew took it below 10,000 in a hurry and with fighter jets scrambled for the escort on its way to land, and is still sitting on the ground. Pretty sure after a thorough screening & once cleared to fly, they will be sure to be a few hours late ...

** 1 pax taken into police custody - no other details available http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013...und-plane?lite
Good old fashion darn letter or notes - ain't much for the NSA bunker to do, or is there ?

The plane was diverted to Scotland's Glasgow airport, not to London.
And the person taken into custody was from the Frontier flight.
You've mixed up your stories.

The BBC says that the diversion was to "Glasgow Prestwick Airport" -- PIK, not GLA.
In the olden days Prestwick was the only airport in Scotland handling transatlantic flights, partly because it was, and presumably still is, the least fog-prone airport in Britain. This may be the principal reason that it is still open after the growth of GLA.
