Almost every time I travel with golf clubs I get one of these.
Ever had anything stolen from your bags?
My aunt had given my father some gifts to bring back. One of those gifts (as we found out today) was a pair of gold earrings!!!!
I almost hit the roof!
I've never had anything stolen nor have I ever gotten one of these notices.
I am flying to Europe in 3 days and am taking afew iPhones for friends.
Now this notice has got me thinking. I obviously don't want those phones stolen.
Would I be asked why I'm carrying so many iPhones by the TSA if I just carried them in my carry-on?
I'm going to have to pass security multiple times, as I'm flying Hartford to Newark to Canada to London. I may be asked this question many times...Would they have any right to confiscate them?
I wouldn't think so, since they're not custom agents...and I'm only passing through customs in LHR (my final destination).
But I'd like to hear your thoughts.
The ones I still have are older with revision dates of 1.13.03, 6.1.2004 and 8-1-2004. They can't even be consistent on how they denote the revision dates as each is different from the others.

I would never ever put small, valuable electronics into checked luggage. It's the height of foolishness.

Those could very easily have been stolen!
Phew!
No, I have never had anything stolen from my bags.
Anything of value should never be checked, though.

If a few is several hundred, maybe. Otherwise, you should be fine.

No, they can't confiscate them. If asked why you're carrying them on, just say that putting them into your checked baggage would be folly. They'll understand.
I recently traveled with quite a lot of valuable jewelry (long story). I certainly didn't check it -- and wouldn't let the TSA inspect it without a police officer standing guard. They demanded a bag check, of course.

Haha... A few is 3 iPhones.
I'll also have a laptop bag containing a laptop and an iPad.
And 2 SLR cameras. One in a case, the other I'll now be putting in the carry-on.
And a video camera. And about 4 watches.
Going to be in Europe for a month and India for a month. I will be attending 4 weddings and these are gifts.
Do you foresee any problems?

Thank you. I appreciate your help.
And there's absolutely no limit (within reason ofcourse) to the amount of electronics you can carry...?
One more question, I was wondering about. They cut the lock on one of my father's bags but not the other. But we found the notice in both bags!
Master keys?
One of my bags that I'll be taking with me has one of those auto-locks. I shut the sides and it's locked. I don't need to put on a lock. The only way to open that would be to break that bag apart.
What happens if the TSA want to get into that bag. They'd have to smash that bag open....Then what?

TSA has master keys to the TSA-approved locks. So, they shouldn't have to break those to get into a bag. (Though reports say they sometimes do. I've also seen reports of re-locking a bag with the wrong lock.) As noted above, if the TSA wants to open and search a bag, they will do so. Even if it means breaking your suitcase in the process. Hopefully, they will put everything back inside and tape it shut afterwards.
