A little too much sauce!
Obviously this BF passenger got a little ahead of himself by starting his vacation on the plane 
. Now he's up before a judge/district justice in western Ireland for interfering with a flight crew.

To me, saying he was "drunk and abusive", but that "no assaults occurred" paints a pretty clear picture of what was going on: they felt it necessary to restrain him to prevent any assaults.
