If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

4 of 5 accounts just closed. My Freedom is still alive for some reason. Has that happened to anyone here? Will it be closed soon too?

Could you share with us the likely cause of the shutdown?

Sorry to hear that. Strange that the Freedom would be left open. Have you called Chase to find out what's going on?

I'm tempted to apply for the new INK Preferred card but due to my heavy 5X usage (maxed) on the INK Plus card, I'm hesitant to put eyes of the credit analyst on my account.

Would you apply for the INK Preferred or let it be?

Is your Ink Plus spend actual business spend?

No, it's a variation of MS ... that's why I'm reluctant to apply. Plus Chase rarely auto-approves business apps which means I'm almost guaranteed an analyst going through my file.

If it were legit biz spend I'd say go for it, but eyes on an account with lots of dodgy bonus spend might not look good to them.

Freedom was closed a day later. Probably just a website glitch. As far as way I was closed. MS I assume. Isn't that why we are all here on this site?

I have MSed Chase for 3+ years now. Just wish I did more!

How much MS, with which merchants and on which cards? Any other factors (e.g. Walmart billpay, depositing or mailing in money orders)?

Everything below is contingent on having an ARB clause in your cardmember agreement.

I would advise NOT filing in SCC. This will cost you a filing fee and take up a lot of time. Initiate arbitration with JAMS immediately and under the Federal Arbitration Act Chase would be required to pay ALL costs associated with arbitration including yours. Make them pay thousands of dollars to explain to you why they seized your points. Once they see that they are going to have to cough up at least $5k to explain why your points got seized, they might have a change of heart.

Read this article and consider it. "Disputes" has a very broad meaning and seizure of points certainly qualifies. I have used this tactic on numerous occasions and walked away with favorable outcomes. http://www.creditinfocenter.com/lega...itration.shtml

MS is a big reason I'm on this site, and as someone who does there fair share of MS on Chase cards, I'd like to try to figure out why they closed your accounts after three years. I'm sorry for your loss and any info would be greatly appreciated.

1. Were you doing more MS recently than usual?

2. Were you doing a lot of 5X office supply spend?

3. Did you let any of your statements close with high balances on your
Chase cards or other cards?

4. Did you spend over your credit limit (short cycle) on any cards by making
multiple payments throughout the month?

5. Did you have a recent drop in credit score?

6. Do any of the other questions in the WIKI apply to your situation?

I had a HUGE scare today. Logged into my Chase account, 4 of my cards didn't show a balance, just said "Not available" and also my UR was 200k less. I was of course freaking out, thought I'd been shut down. Logged out, logged back in, everything looked ok. Anyone ever run into this before? Should I be freaking out, expecting the worst?

According to DOC: http://www.doctorofcredit.com/jpmorg...feited-points/

The class action lawsuit has been settled in favor of the Plaintiffs. If you had points forfeited due to an account closure, and were unable to redeem those points, you may be entitled to compensation.

I've been using WMBP for $1k-4k per month on various Chase cards for about 2 years (Ink, CSR, CSP, Freedom). I don't do any MS on any of the cards, though I do exploit quarterly bonuses on Freedom. No Chase bank accounts. Otherwise, I keep proportionately low balances on my cards and use them for everyday spend. The only reason I do BP is to use my 2x ST DL debits for a total of $8k payments per month (to get the measly 4k points).

Data on this thread suggests that WMBP can be a contributing factor to shut down. But I can't find evidence on FT that it has been the only factor. Clearly I'm wondering if I need to have a new strategy like MOs for maxing out my STDL debit.
