What a bummer. I referred my brother and mother in the last three months.

They were a no go to retroactively giving me the bonus, but of course I asked them to reconsider.

They did give me insight though. You can change the last part of the URL to ChaseFreedom or ChaseSapphirePreferred to be able to refer either cards. The Freedom gives you each $50, Sapphire is same as above url.

I tried the secure message route without any luck. Bummer since I just talked someone into signing up on 9/1. Here's what Chase sent back to me. Sorta confusing with the mailing / email language when people are saying it was a link on the logon page. <shrug>

"We do have Refer a Friend - 2013 promotion for existing
Chase Sapphire and Chase Sapphire Preferred customers.
However, I wish to inform you that the Referred friends
offer is a limited, non-transferable offer and only
recipients of the mailing/email are eligible. If you are
not listed as the addressee of the mailing, we will be
unable to apply the offer to your account."

Edit: Well I see the link on the chase.com page now too. Looks like I'm gonna have to plead with them to reconsider

Tried the SM route myself after my brother had just signed up for a CSP 2 weeks ago. No dice. They told me my account ending in XXXX wasn't not eligible for refer-a-friend at this time AND bonus points are never credited retroactively.

Shrug.

I tried the secure message route as I recently referred someone, was told the first time that I was not targeted. Asked to reconsider since the offer shows up when I input my information. Escalated to manager who apologized for the first response but still said no go on retroactive bonus

When I originally posted this information, it was not from a targeted mailing or email but rather simply on the landing page for chase.com....before I logged in to my account.

Yep. After asking them to reconsider they admitted it was a new public promotion. They still were not willing to cough up any miles though.

Chase Sapphire Preferred is now 40K [$3000 in 3 months]

I just referred someone. I had sent my girlfriend a few links and none arrived until at least a week later. We were a bit impatient so I called chase and the representative said the program just started so shes not sure, and recommended using Facebook (which we used instead)

Thanks for the URL - I just got my CSP recently and my information isn't recognized (I get "We can't identify you with the information you provided. Make sure you entered your last name exactly as it appears on your credit card."...) - I asked through secure message to see why

Got the answer:

"I appreciate the time you took to contact Chase about
Refer a Friend program.

Upon review, I noticed that there is no referral bonus
offer on your card. The Refer a Friend offer is targeted
offer. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

If there is an offer in future, you will be notified.

Targeted Population:

Account must be in good standing currently and at the time
the eligibility list was determined. Account open date
should be prior to 8/12/13.
"

bummer...

Data point: have had a Chase Freedom account for years, so well before the 8/12/13 date. Unable to log into the refer a friend site (always gave an error) so sent SM. Response:

After further review, our records have found that the
Chase Freedom Refer A Friend promotion is not available
for your account ending in ####. We will be sure to let
you know if any new offers become available on your
account in the future.

We apologize for any inconvenience this matter may have
caused.

I signed up my family for this. If/when they apply I'll be getting some points. Thanks everyone.
